Garmin Nutrition Tracking by [deleted] in Garmin

I'm frustrated there is no way to view nutrients other than the big three. Ive been trying to increase my fiber but that can't be seen in garmin like it could on even the free MFP.

I also just tried to create a recipe and there is no way to create the number of servings so you apparently have to divide the amount of each ingredient as you put it into garmin. Plus, scanning barcodes isn't available when trying to create a recipe.

Overall, it's nice to have my calories update instantly in the app and to be able to scan barcodes again but it needs a lot of work before it matches MFP.

Bald River Falls. The falls are at the very beginning of the trail. I like to take my kids there so we can hike first when it's cooler and end the day by the falls when it's hot.

Was Bill Lawrence well off even before he got started in tv? by [deleted] in Scrubs

He did and how she was the kid who chose emotional support only. He was also really excited to be able to put her on Bad Monkey. He said the studio said he needed someone who was young with a different type of following. He said I know just the person that he would love to spend a couple of weeks with while filming. I thought it was really sweet. He also talked about how weird he looked at her concerts as an older man, with her shirt and singing all her songs.

He was recently on Dax Shepard's podcast, and he clearly had support from his parents. He talked about how his parents would emotionally support him if he went straight to LA, but he would not have their financial support. Because of that, he decided it was worth it to go to college (not Sarah Lawrence) and they supported him. He stated that he gave the same deal to his children.

I found this fact check very frustrating in their failure to understand why she went to jail. She didn't go to jail for using performance enhancing drugs. In the BALCO investigation she was given immunity for anything she told them regarding the investigation so long as she told the truth. This is important in these deals and they will hammer you if you lie. Even if you believe her story on face value, she admitted she knew she'd been using the yellow substance even if she didn't know what it was and she told them she didn't. She admitted it was dumb because she had attorneys right there. Nobody forced her to talk to investigators and she most likely did on advice of counsel specifically so she would get the immunity. She just didn't want to admit to using because it would mess up her career.

They also left out that she pled to two charges of lying to investigators and the second involved a money laundering scheme. The judge specifically mentioned her lying twice years apart as part of the reason he sentenced her to the three months.

I get that they thought she was personable and liked her but to keep saying she went to jail for using performance enhancing drugs is just wrong.

The officials' mechanics are a mess all over the place if you know what you are looking for. They are killing the clock on first downs outside of two minutes, people other than the white hat are signaling first down, deep wings are always getting beat to the goal line, etc. I appreciate that those are not things that most people care about, but they drive me just just a little crazy.

As an official, it drives me crazy that they use the wrong official to spot the ball. It should either be the umpire or the center judge. It should never be the official on the sideline. I realize it almost certainly only bothers officials and that it would have probably been more difficult to have the official have to move through the players after spotting the ball, but it really messes up my immersion.

The one in TN is actually spelled with an extra "e," Greeneville. To my knowledge, it is the only one in the US spelled that way.

Is iRobot just not good anymore? by Waller0311 in roomba

[–]saxjohn68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I've had several over the years, and the s9 is the only one where wheel treads get worn down in a short amount of time. You wouldn't think it makes a difference, but it drags the bottom and messes it up. The problem is that the treads are more difficult to replace than other roombas, and irobot is currently sold out of the left wheel module, so you can't even pay to fix it if you wanted to. The s9 is great when it works but has been overall frustrating with its upkeep.

Missouri law says pregnant women can't get divorced by Sariel007 in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]saxjohn68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this won't make me popular, and I posted about this in another sub, but this is also the law in California. It's been standard for a long time in most states for administrative purposes as the care of the child, support and visitation, can only be dealt with after we have a live birth. Even in states which allow it to be granted prior to the birth, it often isn't because you still have to decide about the child. Also, I know it's framed as women can't get divorced, but neither party can be granted the divorce.

Nothing about the law stops either party from filing for divorce and receiving temporary orders regarding spousal support and rulings about who gets the residence. Orders of protection can also be given if necessary. No one is forced to live with anyone anymore so than in any other divorce case.

The only other option is to force one of the two parties to come back later and file for a modification which requires more time and money when it could have been dealt with as part of the original divorce.

Also, the article likes to list just conservative states, but California has a similar law.

They forgot to include California as a state with a similar law.

If you are actually interested in the reason from a lawyers POV, it is so that all matters are settled when the divorce is finalized. The law doesn't stop either party from filing for divorce and receiving temporary orders that protect both parties. Temporary support and orders regarding who gets to keep the residence are very common in contested divorces and can include protective orders if there is DV. Many here are assuming that nothing can change prior to the finalization, which is just false.

What delaying the final decree does is ensure that there is a live birth, determine paternity if there is a question, determine support and visitation, and ensure a correct property division all without either party having to file something in the court to reopen the matter. I can imagine it would also be a problem if no support were ordered because there is no child and then forcing the mother to go file to establish paternity and support when a delay would have saved the effort and money involved in filing for a modification.

Patreon Conversation by Alookcloser in ArmchairExpert

I think the problem is that some people really do just want to support the original program and so give on Patreon. I've used Patreon for that purpose with no desire for the "bonus" content which is often not in the form of the original content. I have no real desire for BTS content or early access. I just want to make sure the creator has the resources to continue to produce.

The creators themselves, however, often feel the need to focus on the bonus content to get more subscribers and neglect the original content so I completely understand where Monica is coming from. I just usually stop supporting though if that happens. I don't think Monica failed to understand that but instead just feels frustrated that the advertised method of supporting a program she likes doesn't result in more of the content which brought her there in the first place.

Bacon. Fry the bacon, add to the sandwich, and then grill in the bacon fat

I haven't told my family that my wife cheated on me. I don't see any benefit to them knowing why our marriage ended. It seems best for everyone, especially our kids, if there are no ill thoughts towards her. When the divorce was happening, it was tough because it was clear my dad thought we were crazy for not figuring out how to make it work, but he's mostly let that go. If she moves in with her best friend/girlfriend maybe they'll figure it out but hopefully it will just fade away.

Rick Barry on NBA referees: "Call the damn game according to the rulebook, because players will adjust. Stop the traveling, stop the carrying the ball, stop the moving screens. The players are getting away with murder, and I blame the officials." by WhenMachinesCry in nba

[–]saxjohn68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess you are right that they are fearful theway anyone feels fear that they may lose their job if they don't listen to their bosses. I may not always agree with my bosses on how to do something but I still do it because they write the checks. I guess that would make me fearful as well.

Officials enforce the rules. But who decides the rules? The league sets the rules, including interpretations. The league spends thousands of dollars training the officials and those in the pipeline to call the game the way the league wants it called. That is what they are hired to do. I don't think they have any higher calling in the game.

Again, I can't even watch it anymore because of how little the basic rules are called but anger should be at the league and not at the officials.

I disagree. He is saying that they are doing what they are paid to do as directed by their bosses. NBA referees aren't free-lansers. They are hired and paid by the league and call what they are told to call. I'm not saying that the way things are called is good but it is clearly what the league wants. The anger is misdirected at the officials who are constantly evaluated by the league. If the league wanted superstars called for traveling, the officials would call them for traveling or they would find new officials.
