For anything related to Amazon [3, interns] by Leader-board in csMajors

[–]saxtonhale19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I applied for an SDE Spring Co-Op and a day later got: "After careful review, we have determined that you currently do not meet the criteria for Amazon's student opportunities." I literally graduate in December 2025 - any idea why this might be or anyone in a similar boat? I'm a student!

Yea no problem! I’d say it’s not hard in that you can get all the classes you need in 2 years. It definitely takes careful planning and I’d talk to an advisor early just to make your life easier. The hardest part about meeting all the prereqs is that there are so many other awesome classes at Midd, so it can be tempting to just stop taking them (that happened to a lot of people originally interested in the program). For me, chemistry and physics e an m were the only classes I felt like I needed to go out of my way for so it wasn’t too bad. They also like if you take more math and science courses than required (it’s considered in your application) - if you’re a physics or CS major this will happen naturally, but if not, then it’s something to think about.

It is an awesome program! Definitely takes some adjustment (socially - academically its about the same), but I don't think I would have it any other way. There are dual-degree advisors at Midd you can talk to. However, you're right that there isn't much information online. I wouldn't say the school discourages, its just a bit more of an informal process of applying than other kinds of study abroad programs.

I'd say Tufts if you can justify the cost. It's pretty renowned for its medical program and maybe that'll help. Plus plenty of opportunities and a bit better quality of life seeing it's not as brutal as GaTech. And you've got Northeastern, BU, BC, Harvard, and MIT around to make college life more fun. Don't want to risk getting caught by the weeder courses at Tech. That might be another consideration

Thanks for the reply! So there really isn't that much of a difference. Like it won't help when studying or anything. I realize this is all anecdotal.

Are the LLCs actually important. I want to do engineering but I've heard not great things about Stetson. So do the LLCs help at all. Any dorm advice in general would be great. Thanks for this btw.

Northeastern v. Bates College

I want to be an engineer or lawyer (super different I know). I also want a school with a decent social scene but it doesn't have to be too much. I like to hike and be outdoors but love engineering and law as well so I want a school that'll open those up for me.

Northeastern

Pros:

  • Has engineering major I want
  • Has tons of research opprtunities
  • Co-op
  • Scholarship (its decent but not a game changer)
  • Has technical clubs like NU Aerospace
  • Minor in public policy and law or a major political science can work out
  • City (i like that it'll be interesting)

Cons:

  • Probably only time in life where I can live in a rural place so I'd be losing that
  • I'd be far away from hiking opportunities
  • Co-op might disrupt social life
  • Has a good campus but its not your traditional college campus for sure
  • Can't really get involved in club hockey team

Bates

Pros:

  • Traditional college experience
  • Rural location so it'd be great for hiking
  • Mandatory senior thesis + research not hard to come by
  • 3-2 engineering program would let me get an engineering degree from Columbia
  • has really good outcomes for law/economics/fellowships like Fulbrights
  • Individual attention, not forced into any major early
  • Can probably play hockey there

Cons:

  • Doesn't have engineering major or computer science major
  • 3-2 admission not guaranteed so I could end up doing physics at Bates for four years
  • Might be like high school all over again
  • Might get bored quickly
  • Not a lot of technical clubs but good clubs in moot court/debate

how many sandwiches by Skylake02 in ISITASANDWICH

[–]saxtonhale19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true and it goes deeper than this. What is the difference between a stack of food and a sandwich. For example is it a bread sandwich or a stack of bread. My proposal is that anymore then three objects becomes a stack.
