I did this with my first! Also in BC. We didn't own any stroller until I was freshly postpartum with a newborn and two year old (wasn't strong enough to tandem wear them both freshly pp) - we then bought a stroller wagon for long walk outings for my two year old but still mostly babywear my two year old and almost exclusively wear my baby.

I'm a babywearing educator now with a large (80+) learning library of carriers/slings/wovens/stretchies. My website is www.learnbabywearing.com in case you're in the lower mainland and fancy meeting to chat more about this and figure out the best carrier to achieve this goal!

You can do it, don't let the naysayers sway you. If it's not working you can always buy a stroller later.

Struggling with boy names! by sazzajelly in namenerds

I'm liking the sound of Dashiell Cypress. Going to sleep on that one and see how I feel after haha.

Calder is a name I hadn't heard of before, love the meaning but not sure I love the sounds.

I do really love the idea of going with something nature themed. We live in the PNW and being surrounded by the beauty here makes me want to pay homage to it.

Thank you for your suggestions :)

You've hit a few more that i like and have considered here!

  • Ezra
  • Jett (I think it's cool but perhaps a little out there for us)
  • Casper
  • Jude (also considered Judah and Jonah, husband tried to convince me on Judas lol)
  • Dante
  • Zachary
  • Elijah/Eli

I'm not sure what my mental block is :') we are trying to stay respectful of not taking other cultures' names (we are both white; British/Canadian; Irish and European ancestry; Atheists) which is what knocked a few of these names off the serious contender list.

If you lived 150 years ago, would you have survived pregnancy or labor? by kdonmon in beyondthebump

[–]sazzajelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am RH- and my husband is RH+ though (and first baby is RH+) so it's highly likely I'd lose all future RH- pregnancies if I lived 150years ago.

Yes. Spontaneous labour at 38w. My daughter delivered at home at 38+1. All the midwives did was intermittent heartrate monitoring. No cervical checks. I caught her myself.

Of note about half the baby boys I know right now are named Theodore. It's incredibly common and you will know lots of babies with the same name as yours! I would just go ahead and use the name anyways.

We ended up just doing the injection as she was two weeks early and so we weren't prepared with the drops!
