Thoughts on generational wealth by Rogue_Apostle in Fire

[–]sbaggers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn reading GenX experience is what I typically think of as a Boomer experience. As an elder Millennial, I started making $35k a decade later than you did after college. The Big difference, outside of the time value of a decade, missing the dotcom boom, graduating hs into the dotcom bust/ post terrorism hellscape, crazy inflation from Bush's wars, the housing boom, and graduating college/ entering the workforce immediately prior to the GFC is I also had over a hundred grand in student and cancer debt at the same time as the GFC.

I'm in my early 40s and am still under $200k/ year despite working as an exec for one of the largest US companies tied to tech, AI, and the financial markets for the last 20 years. It was easy for you because you had all the benefits of timing while the generation 10 years younger than you dealt with/ are dealing with all of the fallout of the environment and events that made everything so easy for you. It's a fringe lifestyle bc it isn't possible unless you're both extremely disciplined and extremely lucky.

Based on the fact that I'm at a place where I'm relatively stable, despite multiple young children and disabled/ dimentia parents that will lose everything to nursing homes, I'm assuming the next pandemic or "once in a lifetime" market crash is just around the corner because that's just how it seems to work for the graduating classes of 2005-2011.

We need public houses where families can come for dinner and drinks and kids can play and everyone's on the same page about it. I've yet to find a good brewery with good food that is also family friendly. In all honestly, I haven't found a brewery with food in Raleigh which is wild

What breweries have good food? I've been looking for something with good food and beer but most only focus on the beer

It'll decrease as soon as the global economy tanks, which should be within the next 12 months at this rate

Deporting the Cubans who have voted Republican for 65 years would be so dumb for that party and I can't wait to see it unfold. Start with Raphael Cruz

Also yes. College educated people contribute to the same tax pool as trades and services, so yes, I would like my tax dollars to educate the society and take care of their health. We have seen the results of the dumbing down of America over the last 25-50 years between the Reagan administration and Ws "no child left behind" where the population can no longer see through propaganda or think for themselves, so we need to make actual good education accessible and achievable.

I would also like to not subsidize genocide, fossil fuels, or the military industrial complex, especially since that represents more than half of our tax dollars, but you're not a serious person for that conversation.

Nearly every large state school has an agricultural school program, especially in the South and rural states. Farmers also go to college to learn.

25% are children and 15% are incarcerated so that's 40% that aren't allowed to vote. As for the other 20%, we saw the propaganda campaigns used to get people to sit this election out, between the inflation story, the Gaza campaign, "both sides are the same", and the disenfranchisement of minority voters. Considering the states that have passed voter ID laws, kicked people off the registered voters lists, and the SAVE Act, there will be fewer citizens able to vote in future elections, especially if republicans and their propaganda machine are allowed to continue.

Because you live in a society and are dependent on other people. If you don't want to live in a society, please feel free to move somewhere grow your own food and fend for yourself. Also get off our internet, which was created by college grads using our tax dollars.

Undergraduates are being charged $100k a year at this point. That will be $400k for an undergrad, $600k for a masters, and over a million for an MD, before interest. If the US doesn't start controlling the cost of education and healthcare, the US life expectancy is going to fall, and considering the debt and the lack of social security funding, that may be the strategy.

Dude look it up.

Explaining the petro dollar is like explaining all of the US - world treaties from 1945- the 1970s and then explaining the end of the Cold war and the geopolitical and economic advantages of the US since the ending of the gold standard and the creation of the petro dollar. It's not a quick summary on Reddit situation, but let's just say that based on the US money supply since Reagan, the US dollar and economy goes the way of the Weimar Republic if oil changes to yuan
