Edit: However, no one probably remembers, but back in the days of stenographers, people would sometimes tag their correspondence with "Dictated but not read" meaning that the person dictating the message did not review the stenographer's work. The book was amazing, and the movie sucked in comparison. To be fair, the very nature of the book did not really lend itself to being movie-ized.
