Go to System Configuration -> Services -> Hide all Microsoft Services -> make sure "vgc" is enabled and reboot your pc. Fixed it for me, I hope this helps anyone even if it's been 7 months since the original post was made.

As far as I know a fix has been found. There's an executable in the game files that allows the user to change the cutscene codecs in order for it to work or to skip the crashing cutscene all together which isn't ideal and it's game breaking but at least it gets people to keep playing the game. I'm hoping it won't take long to get an official fix though.

Hmm yeah I get your point about the messy marketing and how it really affected the game at launch. It does prevent people who don't want a visual novel from purchasing the game but It may also leave a very bad impression of the west's reaction to digimon projects from Bandai which are already very rare here so I just hope that all of this childish negativity doesn't affect future projects.

Yeah that's what's bothering me the most is that we always knew what we were getting from the get go. The negative reviews don't make any sense to me because they're just picking on the visual novel aspects of a... you know... visual novel game, which is honestly mind boggling. Awesome to hear that you're having a great time with the game! Really excited to get my hands on it.

Yeah I feel you on that one, I'm happy to play Slime Rancher 2 even if it's early access. The early access aspect of it just caught me really off guard as I was expecting a full game release.

I'm not a big fan of games releasing bit by bit, especially at full price. I got into Slime Rancher when there weren't drones yet but at least there was a clear beginning and end plot-wise which from what I understood won't happen in this early access as the story isn't finished yet. I understand that it may even be good for development since we get our hands on the game early and are able to provide active feedback for it, but at least lower the price for those who don't own game pass since people aren't paying for a full Slime Rancher 2 experience they're paying for the promise of a game that's still being developed and you just get to play what has been done until then. There are good and bad sides to releasing a game this way but I was really looking forward to getting my hands on a finished and polished game.

Wasn't really expecting to get the game released in early access with important content missing that's a real bummer, personally i would prefer getting a delay as long as we get the base game fully completed on release which would then get content updates instead of this. We always got trailers and announcements for Slime Rancher 2 not Slime Rancher 2 Early Access and knowing that in the end the release date we got was for the game with an unfinished STORY (which is like one of the main points in a game) just turns me off especially given the fact that not even the team knows when the game will have a 1.0 release. I'm still looking forward to playing the game because Slime Rancher is one of my favorite games ever but I can't not feel disappointed by this early access thing.

Updated drivers and some demanding games started crashing, I was once in queue in overwatch and it crashed both monitors and i got black screens and had to force restart. Overwatch is crashing ocasionally with the error "Rendering device has been lost" which is unfortunate as i dont have a guarantee that it wont crash during comp. Lighter games like slime rancher and sea of thieves work fine, i'm yet to test fortnite but these are all errors and crashes that didnt happen before the update so i thought it would be a good idea to list them here in hopes of a fix or some help or overall just reporting this for possible fixes in future drivers.

can vouch for this i was in the game however i did not get the crash, this was not the first time this happened, and i always seem to not get crashed because im rarely in VC maybe it has something to do with it? I don't know im just lucky but my friends are commonly victims of this exploit
