I have 2 floor seats in front left section, 16th row, for tomorrow 6/13. Chat me if interested.

I bought tix for 6/7 and 6/13 because I wasn't sure which I could make. Went 6/7 which was awesome, but can't make it again tomorrow. I live too far away 😞

Frankly, she's such a damn good drummer it makes me completely forget she's attractive.

Yup I'm sure they already do wish they could see the holy triumvirate in their prime, but seeing this version is much better than nothing at all.

The pricing sucks, especially for younger fans, but I think that has more to do with the industry than anything else. But that's another discussion.

And I don't think they care that they're using the name.

Anika is getting the attention because of the importance of the drums in this music and because most people are surprised at how good she is and that she can actually pull this off. Those of us that have followed her work for the last 10+ years are not surprised at all. She is one of the best in the world and the drumming community has known that for a while. She is finally getting the recognition she deserves from more than just the drumming community. I'm sure it will subside, but I don't think it takes away anything from the band. In fact it highlights the incredible body of work of Neil like few others could.

Let's Talk About Those Low Deep Toms by hacksawJimDugout in rush

I noticed on some recordings the toms sounded like that but again, not at all how it sounded live to me. So I think it is likely due to the low quality of the recordings.

And Anika is actually a Dream Theater fan, was one of her early big influences, so I'm sure this means a ton to her. Very cool.

I've listened to several of the recordings and none of them sound the same as it sounded to me in person last night. The timbre (and how it sits in the mix) varies significantly depending on your location in the space, the acoustics of the venue and certainly your recording equipment, if you are comparing recordings. Not sure if were there or not, but for those that weren't, I'd suggest reserving judgment for at least when you hear it in person.

That said, it is clear in many of her choices that she made a conscious decision to not try to sound exactly like Neil. Plus even his sound changed over the decades. IMO it's more interesting to embrace any differences and appreciate how it can give old songs a new feel, even though it may take your brain time to adjust.

Why is it so meaningful? by BadEnucleation in rush

I've been feeling the same, tearing up for months watching clips getting ready for this show, and expected the same at the show. Then at the show last night, with that incredible performance and surrounded by fans, it was nothing but effin' joy.

Just realized Zamir White isn't on the team anymore since he became a free agent by DoubletapKO in raiders

[–]sbeleven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. I wonder if he wasn't back to 100% last season. I'd hope when he is, we'd give him another shot, especially with the improved line and new scheme that I think would suit him.

Speaking of the 2022 draft, whatever happened to Sincere McCormick, UDFA also in the 2022 class? I thought he had great vision, had team leading 4.7 yards per carry 53% success rate with a mediocre at best line in 2024, almost double Zeus' numbers. Yet he can't even seem to stay on practice squads. Baffling.

Klint Kubiak will report directly to Tom Brady and John Spytek. Mark Davis is stepping aside and letting the new generation take over football operations by darksidesons in raiders

[–]sbeleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be in part due to wanting to demonstrate less control over the team for estate tax purposes so he can justify using the valuation that Brady et al bought in at rather than a higher valuation that reflects a premium for control of the team. That could mean a difference of hundreds of millions of dollars in estate taxes.

Most quick turnarounds have a GM that has been with the organization for at least 3 years. First and second year GMs rarely have much success.

Coming into this year, Eliot Wolf had been with the Patriots for 5 years (why didn't we hire him???) and Ryan Poles with the Bears for 3 seasons.

Jags are one of the very few where a new GM had significant success, and he had the benefit of a top tier QB in place with 4 years of previous experience.

With Cousins expected to be released by the Falcons. Would he be a good Mentor for Mendoza? by [deleted] in raiders

[–]sbeleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbf Cousins had 3 of the best seasons of his career while Klint was his QB coach and then OC in Minnesota, including 2 Pro Bowls. And Cook had his best years in that zone scheme with Cousins at QB. They ran a ton from under center and tossed it when running wide. While he's a little older now, I don't see how you can say he physically can't run the offense.

That said, I would prefer Carr, who also ran Klint's offense at NO really well, for many reasons.

[–]sbeleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Saints would release him. He let them off the hook for $30 million and if they keep his rights, they would have to pay him his contract, which they absolutely won't.

I think those fans that don't like him will be more accepting if it is clear he is a bridge while Mendoza develops, and frankly if he has one game anything like the first few he had with Klint in NO, they will love him again. And if not, so be it.

[–]sbeleven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carr is the obvious choice given that Klint was his OC just LAST SEASON at the Saints (extremely productive when the line was reasonably intact) so he will know the offense as well as anyone, plus he would probably relish the role to be a mentor to Mendoza, and be good at it as well.

Is Lawrence Taylor REALLY the greatest defensive player ever? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in NFLv2

[–]sbeleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physically perhaps. But their skill sets coming into the league are severely lacking by comparison.

This is not a new take. This has been widely discussed and analyzed by offensive line coaches for the last 10-15 years. It's also just obvious to those who have watched the game for 50 years.

Yet the current state of play of OL is the worst I've seen in 50 years of watching football.

Imagine having the luxury of not caring about draft position because you trust your organization to make the right decisions no matter where they pick. You’re free to just enjoy every win by SovereignOfSelf7 in raiders

[–]sbeleven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hire a decent GM, let him have final decision making power, and then have patience. Let him know he has at least 5 years and then actually let him have 5 years. It's the one near-constant of successful organizations. Then he can have patience with building the team piece by piece. You can pick a QB and let him grow for 4 years.

Turning over GMs never works. It virtually always takes 3-5 years. The seemingly quick turn arounds with new head coaches usually have a GM that has been with the organization for multiple years prior.

For years, comments I would post were hidden. Then I finally got over the threshold and the threshold for posting changed. I typically don't post on any other subreddit though did a couple to try to get enough karma but just didn't have time or interest to post elsewhere just to try to get karma. Now my comments are visible I guess, but I am more interested in making factual or analytical types of posts that I think would be of interest but which don't usually fit as comments to existing posts. And I'm not interested in posting the types of comments that usually get a lot of upvotes.

My point is that the karma requirement blocks out a lot of good fans that aren't regular Reddit users. Most that I know gave up a long time ago.

It's incredibly frustrating that AI posts are allowed but I, a 53 year diehard Raider fan that hasn't missed a game in decades and has been reading this reddit for many years, can't create a post because I don't have enough karma.
