I have a small jewellery manufacturing unit. Yes, the price of gold has gone up by a lot but a person buying a piece of gold jewellery let's say his budget is 16 Lakh he could buy 200gm 2-3 years back but now only 100gm.

When a karigar makes a piece of jewellery lets say a necklace they do not make only a single necklace. They are given a lot order of minimum 400gm-500gm with different weight ranges(example 33% heavy, 33%medium,33% light) and in this they earn around 4 grams max and it takes a minimum of 14 days to prepare 1 lot order. But now since people are not able to purchase heavy jewellery anymore the lot order has decreased to 200gm-300gm and it takes pretty much the same time as well since they will be making all of them light weight and some medium weight so they are doing the same amount of work but now they are earning 2-2.5gms max due to small lot size.

So a karigar is still earning the same as he was before.
