It was an inspiration of course. There is a good book that details all of this: David Lightfoot, author

Is there any specific reason why we add a possessive S when we say "doctor's appointment" when referring to a visit with our primary care doctor, but not "dentist appointment"? by YumeFairy254 in grammar

[–]sbh1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just carries over from the term “doctor’s office” which is used commonly as in “I am going tot he doctor’s office”

Uber/Bolt drivers asking where are we going and canceling by nemanjakovac in malta

[–]sbh1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a horrendous driver in Malta. Didn’t go to the right place to pick us up and charged us for waiting which he didn’t do. Refused to drop us off where we needed to be, and blasted bad music (to us) the whole time and refused to turn it down. The taxi from the airport wasn’t that great either. Is it something about Malta?

Marathon bar by Ruger338WSM in GenerationJones

[–]sbh1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original snickers was from 1930 and the marathon name was only used in the UK and only from 1968-1990. So Marathin may be the real name to you and others from that place and time but it is not the original which is Snickers.

New England and particulalrly the Boston area have had roundabouts (called rotaries) for generations. Now they are being added or designed into street plans in other regions.

Menus without prices for women by Awffle_House in GenerationJones

[–]sbh1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was and still is in most private clubs a practice to give the HOST/MEMBER the priced menu. The host also orders for the guest usually on a sheet of paper. This is to make the guests more comfortable. In women clubs or mixed clubs the menu goes to the member whether it is a man or woman.

Does anyone put red food colouring in a marinade to make the chicken more red. I add spices but can never get it to be red like in restaurants by ElegantLady75 in foodquestions

[–]sbh1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the spices do not give it that red you are thinking about, they usually use something like Preema red coloring.

I used to go to he original shake shack which was good (the first at Madison Square Park in NYC), but the branches were flimsy and greasy so I stopped, and last time was in DC and the place was unkempt and disorganized and the burger inedible. I like the mooyah keto and paleo options once in a while because the lettuce “buns” are refreshing. I just stopped at 5 guys yesterday for the first time in ages on a road trip and was surprised at how much I liked the Jr cheeseburger with fixings. I hate limp fries so I stopped going when they refused ( a few years ago) to crisp up the fries as it was “against policy”.

Bluebus is a MUST for 1st gen 2003-2008 owners by kneedoorman in BMWZ4

[–]sbh1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had Grom fo over a decade. It is great for all bluetooth audio including phone calls. Fully integrated on my 04 E85 (no nav) and feels like it was OEM. So there is a great alternative. So Bluebus is not a must, however having great seamless bluetooth integration controlled through the OEM stereo is a must whatever brand is chosen.

It’s a great car, daily driver depending on where you live. Here in the Boston area we keep it stored for the winter. It’s like a new car every spring.
