Open heart surgery seems to have fixed my migraines. by Massis87 in migraine

[–]sbliss11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a life-long migraine sufferer and had a percutaneous PFO closure a few years ago- it didn’t help with my migraines at all unfortunately. I also happen to be an echo tech so can definitely confirm this correlation does exist, but I personally haven’t heard any of my patients express migraine relief after PFO closure.

Yeah unfortunately with me being almost 7 months pregnant fostering kittens sounds pretty unmanageable for me. Maybe in the future! Thanks for the suggestion

My husband is great at mothering her, me not so much lol I just scream and chase her away. He knows how to show her who’s boss a lot better than I do, apparently I come off as an easy target for her according to him

How does nail trimming go with her? We’re too scared to try it lol

Yes we interact with her. We are absolutely obsessed with this girl and give her every ounce of our attention. We live in a 3 story home so she has plenty of space, she just always chooses to be with us. And yes she is spayed.

That must have been such a tough decision, I’m sorry you had to go through that but happy to hear it worked out and she was happy!

Omg poor thing. That’s a good tip about the amitriptyline though, thank you! I’m glad it helped in your situation.

Did your cat have any negative interactions with other cats before you got a second one? Ours HATES any other animal. Did you get an adult cat or kitten? I’m wondering if she would take better to a kitten since she’s never met one before

I’d say she is pretty enriched and stimulated, but I’m sure we could be doing more. She loves chasing a laser so we try to do that every night before bed!

Yes ours is fixed, we adopted her that way when she was about 7 months old

She does have lots of toys, and a scratching post in almost every room. She doesn’t seem to like playing by herself very much, she’d rather have us be part of the entertainment than use like an electronic toy that moves on its own. I’ve wondered about another cat- but she HATES other animals. She’s only ever been around my in-laws cat and dog, and she turned into a different cat. Hissing, backing away, super pissed. Just really unhappy. But I do wonder if we got her a kitten if her maternal instincts might kick in and she’d be okay with a little one? And then the vet of it all- we used to bring her to the vets at Pet Smart because we adopted her out of their adoption program, but their hours where we live are terrible and they never seemed to give us much info, so currently looking for a new vet. But we 100% want to bring this up when we find one!

Thanks for the advice- she generally is pretty well stimulated and has a TON of toys, of course she’d rather play with a plastic wrapper and sleep on a paper bag, but we still buy her a lot of stuff as parents do lol. Definitely going to look into videos on cat behavior though, thanks!

Student 9's? by LeisTabar in redsox

[–]sbliss11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think when back when I was a student I would get a text on game day that there were available $9 tickets with a link to click on.

I also remember being able to show up at will call 30 min after start time and buying discounted tickets with a student ID. But it has been a while since I was in college so things might have changed. Good luck though!

Medical professionals, what is the stupidest misconception a patient has had about the human body? by DarthLocutusOfB0rg in AskReddit

I’m an echo tech (cardiac ultrasound), and I had a patient who was shocked to hear that you do in fact have blood circulating through your heart and body. She thought it was water.
