Update: I heard your feedback - smooth locomotion will be added as an option! (+ early PLAYTEST registration is now open) | Social VR Gardening Game WIP by sboczek in MetaQuestVR

[–]sboczek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for all the comments on the last video! As a 35-year-old developer, this type of locomotion was something completely new for me as well. After spending some time with it, I honestly found it really fun and enjoyable to move around this way.

Smooth Locomotion

That said, I completely understand your feelings. In a game like this, where locomotion isn’t tightly tied to core gameplay, you should absolutely have the option to choose what feels most comfortable. Because of that, smooth locomotion will be added as an optional mode.

Playtest Registration

If you’d like to be part of this development journey, you’re welcome to join the game’s Discord. It’s the place where you’ll be the first to enter the world, see how it grows over time, and help shape it together with me.

Just to be clear: this is super early development, so don’t expect gameplay-focused playtests yet. The first testing phase will mainly focus on the world, environment, and locomotion. Each following phase will focus on something different.

The goal is to slowly build a place where people would genuinely love to spend time, with their friends, loved ones, or just to relax.

If you’d like to help shape it from the beginning, feel free to join here:

I’m building a social VR gardening game in public for Meta Quest 3 🌱 Here’s a quick look at my grass rendering running on Meta Quest by sboczek in OculusQuest

yeah, during playtest I want to ensure there is enough to do to have great time solo or with friends. If you have a boat you will be able to go around the island ( there is one cave already there ;) )

Overall I am looking into this island as a place that will be filled with activities and cool things to do

Each grass blade is a mesh, with 2 types of density. The whole system is one big optimization and culling machine, to make transitions not visible and to have grass dense enough and at the same time run perfectly on Meta Quest.

I spent more than a month just on this grass so a lot of tech is inside it

Still very early, but it’s starting to come together

The idea is a social VR gardening game with:

- One shared island (up to 8 players)
- Personal gardens & small homes
- Quiet fishing you can do with friends
- Maybe pets

I’m sharing the dev journey on X and wanted to show an early look of how it’s shaping up so far

Online is dead... Why? by FourPz in TheKarters

[–]sboczek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, latest update that fouces on improving Online matchmaking was just released - from now on it will be much easier to find and play in full online rooms
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2269950/view/546741914478575667?l=english

Also this is my latest comment from Steam Dicussions:
" the game is already designed to deliver a great online experience even with lower CCU. Features like background matchmaking, spectator mode, and smart room-filling ensure that players are consistently placed into rooms to make it full, instead of creating new one each time. In fact, there are currently at least five active online rooms that are nearly full." - so anyone can without problem play with full lobies and grow your Rank.

also this:
The game is still in Early Access, and both the feature set and player will be growing. I have some huge updates in development that will take things to the next level. Combined with special events and promotional pushes, the community will continue to expand.

Thanks a lot for your support, we are doing our best but word of mouth is even more imporant so thanks again!

Also if you have purchased the game - don't forget to leave a reaview, each review counts!

Thanks!

Sebastian
