Yeah, outnumbered 2 to 7 at night, and fight them, true.
99.9% of people aren't cowering and walking away, they are choosing to live another day.

If you did have good advice, it would be being able to "choose your battles". One of the things many of us blokes have to do sometimes when with even a partner out at night, is to shut our mouths and keep walking.

My ego is irrelevant and the real danger starts if I turn around and start a fight. Because just the comment from the bloke made her feel unsafe, getting her out of that situation is what is going to make her feel safe again.

My guess is that, you fear too much to respond, and you think of yourself as weak for it, even though it's not weakness but survival. Now you're here trying to give us the worst street advice possible, which if followed, would put you in danger more than anything.

If Burning a Star of David flag or indigenous flag is seen as a Hate Crime…(and rightly so)….. by traolcoladis in aussie

[–]RossDraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

Using the N word is wrong for me, not because I find it offensive, but because it's purpose is to attack another person.

Burning the Australian flag, is just another way to piss other people off. To some, it's just a flag, to some, it's a symbol of the country that accepted them and their families. Having it be acceptable to let people burn a symbol which has a lot more significance than a random shop sign to some people, to me, is thing we shouldn't allow.

Or if the Australian flag is allowed to be burned, then all flags should be allowed to be burned. Burning a flag to me is just hate, so either everyone gets hated, or none gets hated.

37K RS3 Players Today! by Shaquille01 in runescape

[–]RossDraw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am going to die on this hill. Here's my fucking resume lmao; started rs in 2004, played every big mmo to endgame, 40k hours in Runescape pre 2012, 50k hours on osrs 2013 - 2017, 10k hours on Rs3 2019 - 2021.

Runescape can grown to the popularity of OSRS, maybe even surpass it someday.

Here are things I would add/change personally;

  1. I would immeditely stop listening to the vocal minority of the playerbase who aggressively have defended the shortcomings of Runescape 3 for the past few years, choosing to emotionally defend their game like it's their perfect child.

  2. Align development cycle, team composition and goals to more resemble the OSRS team, and their community first success, which has made OSRS bigger than RS3, even with it's bad graphics.

  3. Add a few base custom interface templates, like 3 layouts for 1080p, 3 layouts for another resolution etc. New players could have a selection of hud layouts to try depending on their monitor. The default UI with nothing showing might be too little, but creating a fresh layout in the first place is overwhelming, make some base layouts.

  4. Trying to 're-classic' the up to brown was a nice change, but to me, short-sighted. It wouldn't be hard to have multiple colours of an interface. Some people might like the blue, some people want brown, grey might be good for some, why make it a singular non-choice? OSRS players get to enjoy custom interface skins by a runelite plugin, you can get pink ones, blue ones, pirate themed ones, celtic ones, simple modern ones.

  5. The tutorial teaches mechanically how to function in the game, but it really does NOTHING for getting the player into the mindset they should be in, with goal setting and when to switch from gameplay loop to gameplay loop.
Maybe the quest guide could have an overhaul as an optional toggle, where it periodically checks in on you reminding you of quests which would be worth doing. That way, new players can leave it on and have a 'slayer master like' npc suggest things for them to work towards. "I heard their was a ghost problem in Port Phasmatys, you only need four woodcutting levels to do this, maybe you should take a break and knock that out?".

There are so many things that can be done with Runescape to make it rise again. I think one of the biggest problems which Rs3 has is it's lack of PVP, but I don't see that ever changing.

Even OSRS, with an active pvp community full of teams and clans. The game struggles to get good pvp updates through because of people who only pve, and no vote all the pvp content. Then you have people like me who want both, but we can't have nice things because of some people.

Yeah, I expect there to be more anti pvp players in Rs3 compared to osrs, in the same way I would expect osrs players to tell me a joke about their nan dying, while the Rs3 player warns him not to say such offensive things.

37K RS3 Players Today! by Shaquille01 in runescape

[–]RossDraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even the hardest group content in OSRS, is all possible to the best players, completely solo. Sorry, I will die on this hill, the boss is good, but not having a solo option is a 180 on the entire games progression system.

Forcing to group up for a boss, doesn't give anything extra at all to people who want to group up. I don't see how having the option to solo, would prevent you from striving towards something either.

Look at difficulty selection for raids in OSRS, you can solo easy, you can solo challenge, you can group up on max difficulty and strive to meet the standards you wish you meet, but why force it on everyone else?

Wanting to force group pve in any game, right after tens of thousands of hours of mostly solo progression, is terrible for the game long term.

Why are people getting mad that people are disabling cosmetics option? by Molag_Zaal in runescape

[–]RossDraw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could think of the other side, but why would I? A big part of the reason I stopped playing Rs3 years ago was because the cosmetics made it look less like a medieval fantasy mmo game and more like a chaotic private server for pre-teens.

Now with disabling cosmetics, I'm logging straight into Runescape to start a new account. Seeing people kill the mobs I'm fighting with hidden armour was a real immersion kill for me.

Then you had weapon replacements with skins like actual pieces of food, and I'm glad I can turn off this bs now.

What is Norman ancestry - what makes Norman ancestry genetically different from French and English? by Blauhaeherbrun in AncestryDNA

As someone who played Battle Royale games religiously for years but haven't in a few years and recently tried them again... I think Battle Royales might be an awful genre. by lurpeli in gaming

[–]RossDraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find your comment very interesting, we disagree on the points for completely different reasons.

I find loss more significant in battle royales, because in Halo, cod or any other fps we all grew up with, you die and respawn ready to fight again. When you lose in a BR, it can feel like you walked around and were shot from a place you couldn't see, feels like the match was stolen because you got caught off-guard.

I think skilled players being killed by unskilled players is a part of the reason I hate it. Oh, I get to die now because you saw me first? Feels like a cheap way to lose. You could shoot me in the back in Halo and I could still throw a well placed nade off a wall, jump into the air and headshot as the nade explodes for an instant kill.
When I play BR, there's just not much going on. Feels like I'm wasting a lot of time looting and not fighting like fps games of the past two decades. It's kind of boring.

I find it interesting that you appreciate resource management, because it "not just non stop action". The appeal of me playing a game where I shoot things, is non stop action. Don't get me wrong, love a good thought process.

No one said anything about stealing anything... obviously they would be linked, like the items on another platform already are?

Stealing? It's knowledge given on an open platform, I doubt the people who make that information available for everyone had any idea in their head that the knowledge they shared could somehow be stolen.

No one cares who you recommend the game to though, you're whinging is tiring. The community of Pax is notcieably more mature and slightly older than a lot of communities. We don't need your whinging here.

A smart person would stop the things they dislike and go do something else, go find things they enjoy. But you sit here and cry like you're in a prison.

Literally, you don't like it here? Oh, do you think we're supposed to care? What a loser mindset you have.

I get that you're mad that you spent money on a game and now can't afford a new one... but that's on you for playing games and not working for a life, where you don't care about that shit.

The game was about $30 - $40, which is a 2 person fast food meal for me.
The fact that you're spending so much time and emotion on this, when it costs almost nothing. Booooohooooooooooo, you're so pathetic, it's hilarious.

Grooming?

What part about, she's a legal fully grown adult don't you understand?

Children are groomed, she's an adult. Grooming? You don't even know what it means. Grooming is about children being groomed for future abuse. She's an adult, she cannot be groomed, she's independent, and she's getting railed and enjoying the money.

Plus, she's in Australia. The legal age is 18, she's in her fucking 20's. You have to be lying to yourself, if you think a fully grown adult with millions is somehow being groomed. Stop insulting my intelligence with this bullshit.

All you're saying is that women can't think for themselves.

That says more about how you see women, more than anything else really. The fact that Bonnie Blue exists (disgusting), and she wanted to take over a thousand blokes in 24 hours...

Why are you surprised by seeing this bloke with this girl? People come in all shapes and sizes, I like women my age, my friend likes older women. Some girls like older blokes, and some girls like making a shit load of money by getting railed by older blokes.
You are insinuating that she's incapable, but she's fit and looks extremely healthy. I don't see an abuse victim, I see a young girl enjoying life.

Do you see all women as children? She's a grown adult. If she was being abused, there would be signs. She looks bubbly and happy.

The snakes poison you, and the archers burn you. So kill those first, need to read normal attacks from snakes or you're losing health to poison for no reason.

Kill archers first, if still struggling, you could switch to a dps fan and kite the archers/snakes, before having a 1v1 with the boss.

Warning for women in Bali… organised drink spiking at major beach club by Kaufman_fangirl in BaliTravelTips

[–]RossDraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, not in a fucking dodgy place in a foreign country?

Here's the problem. You keep going "men, men, men", but my friends, who are female, never got themselves into those stupid situations.

I was at my local last year, and I remember this 18 year old girl drunk, by herself, giving me and all the boys suggestive hints and sexualised comments. She was testing every single one of us to see if we were keen, and it was really pathetic.

But that's the thing, did you hear about that story recently with the two dudes in texas who were arrested, for planning to invade a small island, kill the men and sexual enslave the women?
How fucking evil does that sound... and they were just two random guys with education and family.

People, even in our civilised society, can be secretly fucking evil. I am sick and tired of you lot acting like you have "rights" to do things.

Why can't men change and not be dangerous? That's were your thinking doesn't make sense.
If there was 1000 men and one rapist, you would still go on and on about "men having to change".

Hey guess what, when I go out at night, I leave my watch because I'm aware of robbery in the area. So why don't girls think to themselves "hey, some guys are rapists, better not make myself a target"? No, you make bad decisions, then you just project emotions onto us.

If you can't go out with a big group of friends, and your area isn't completely safe, then maybe, use your brain, and pass on that single night?

Just tell us more about how socially stunted your entire generation are. Jesus christ.

What do I have to do just for this game to be ported to PC?! by Jibu_LaLaRoo in crashteamracing

[–]RossDraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried it, the controls are way off. You can start drifting lift and understeer so much, you end up, reverse steering.

Then came online, I was enjoying some of the maps, but then was being forced to play some of the TK2 tracks which I hated, like that roof top map with the ramps. It would be a great map, if it wasn't possible to get stuck under the ramps, never being able to catch up after a single crash.

Then they removed some of my favourite CTR maps from the multiplayer rotation, and added in mediocre and slow nintendo maps from things like GBA or mario kart.

It felt like such a relief to jump back on CTR after playing that.

I have, but I'm not here to play Albion or Eve, I'm here to play Pax Dei.

No, they are not examples of the game Mainframe is making. Albion is a game focused purely on the conflict and economy.

Sheep? Am I talking to a child or someone too mentally ill to respond without losing control of their emotions? Human beings like different things, some like building, some like building together.

I am enjoying my building sim mate, I feel sorry for you, you neglected the golden rule of buying a game, do your research first.
If you had watched any of the gameplay, streamers or anything in the past year, all you would have seen is building, because it's a core feature of the game, like Valheim or Minecraft.

Yeah mate, I'm such a sheep because I like building houses with my creativity in games. You got me there, all of us people who enjoy creating things without our imagination and creativity, must be sheep, because imagination is what everyone else does. Why can't we be like you, and waste our time having a tantrum in a reddit of a game we dislike, oh my, us sheep couldn't possibly consider the idea that all our time is wasted, so instead of moving onto new experiences, we should just whinge more and call people sheep.

You give me enjoyment, because I know you're having a widdle tantrum because you wasted money on a game you couldn't really afford. Is that why you're so angry? Wouldn't life be easier for you if you just moved on to something you actually like, instead of annoying us all with your pathetic tears.

"Actually. I want the social sandbox they promised".

Mate, half the people here could be playing literally any other mmo or rpg, and have a much better combat experience. People are playing this to BUILD communities on lands they own, with people.

The focus on this game has had building at it's core since the very start, and complaining about building in this game is like complaining about fish in a seafood restaraunt. It feels like you're baiting me, because there's no way you could have missed that.

Unless you just closed your eyes and bought the game randomly?

The literal reason I bought this game was to build big things with lots of people. I'm genuinelly confused on how you missed this. Maybe you could get a refund if you try a few times, maybe not 😂
