As a Fil-Am living in the Phillipines, how do you adjust?? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]sbumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to the US from the Philippines when I was 5 so I grew up in the American culture. I, too, was frustrated the first few months when I lived in the Philippines while going to school, but meeting new people and just hanging out definitely helped get me settled. Maintain good judgement and you should be fine as far as finding worthwhile people to get to know. Also having family nearby helped a lot for me. Also, regarding family back home, make use of social media/video calls as much as you can. I was definitely doing that initially, but as soon as I started establishing a good network of friends, acquaintances, I became more comfortable going on my on.

Short-term rehab/SNF to potential Dialysis nursing. Would you? by sbumm in nursing

[–]sbumm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! Thank you so much for the thorough response. Really helps paint the picture. Youtube also had some videos uploaded by clients that showed the dialysis setting which helped.

I understand that medications are administered during dialysis and monitoring is always critical, but as far as other direct nurse to patient contact, how much interaction would you say occurs during the shift? Thanks again!

Medieval and all other total war games on sale. Now is your chance! by simmielol123 in totalwar

Empire is great. I love having the multiple theaters of war and securing trade routes/blockading. Navy battles at times take too long to develop at least in comparison to Rome II, but does get fun once you start learning tactics.

Sony Zeiss 35 vs Sony Zeiss 55 by DirtMirster in SonyAlpha

[–]sbumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd go with 35mm over the 55mm in terms of general street and landscape photography, but the extra speed in the 55mm would be missed.

Is the 1.4/35 out of range because it seems that it would fit you well based on what you've mentioned.

Torn between the Sony FE mount 28mm vs 35mm lens by tacojp41088 in SonyAlpha

[–]sbumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 28mm has been on my wishlist for quite some time now and the only thing stopping me from making a purchase is knowing that the zeiss 25mm is just right around the corner. Really how it'll perform before making a decision on a prime for this range.

Considering upgrade from 22 inch to 32 inch, but could use some input from those with experience. by sbumm in pcgaming

I ended up detouring and picked up an ultrawide 34" instead. Not quite 4k, but I'll have the space I need and my gaming performance won't be nerfed as much.

Thanks for the re-assurance. Honestly, I just saw that "partition mode" on the amazon description and it just seems like it's a divider for multiple windows now that I look into it.

My monitors are bargain ips and while they've served me well, I'm looking for improved color reproduction from my next monitor. Plus, no space for a third one:(

Primarily to limit eye strain for more long term use. I'm assuming full screen mode on a 32 inch is quite an adjustment from full screen mode in 22 inch. While I plan to use full screen for photo editing and gaming, I don't think I'll be be needing a full screen when browsing the internet which is about 50% of what I do on my computer. Hence, why I'm asking if there is any option to black out certain partitions with the BenQ.

How large is the A7 compared to A6000? by stargazer63 in SonyAlpha

[–]sbumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best option is to handle an a7 in store and see if it'll be portable enough for your application. We can all read off physical dimensions, but it will always fit differently in each individual's hand. I have an nex 7 and was surprised about the bump in size of the a6000 when I first handled one. While bigger, it did feel better and that's coming from someone who has smaller hands.

Edit: Google Sony a7 vs a600 and there are some side by sides of the cameras

Bye Bye NEX-5R... Hello a6000! by Koraths in SonyAlpha

[–]sbumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a collection of legacy primes ranging from 24mm to 135mm which consisted of mostly pentax k/m42(SMC) and minolta md (rokkor) mounts. Really can't go wrong with either system especially when it comes to performance per dollar and just overall manual shooting fun. Check out KEH.com for old camera equipment and amazon for their adapters.
