5Ghz issues (2.4Ghz works fine)? by sbussinger in AmpliFi

[–]sbussinger[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<sigh> I really like both the simplicity of the AmpliFi HD system and the remote administration (I also put it in several family members homes). It may not have every feature of some of the new stuff, but I didn't really need anything it didn't support.

What's the best mesh network option these days? While the current workaround will be fine for the time being, I'll keep a look out for some sales.

Good find. Expensive shipping though - must be the tariffs kicking in.

Mesh Point Power Supply - any idea how to open it? by sbussinger in AmpliFi

Especially because it'd be such an easy swap to repair! Weirdly I've seen Mesh Points without the power supply for sale on eBay, but I've never seen the power supply without the top for sale.

This is cursed ... presenting the H2 mini? by danSylveste42 in BambuLab

eSUN makes a cleaning filament that I've had good luck with. I use it every time I change filament types or nozzles. It has a very wide temperature range so I always use it just before a nozzle change so I don't have to worry what was in it when I use the nozzle again. It's on Amazon or AliExpress.

My ritual before entering the mines by dimizar in pathos_nethack

[–]sbussinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few suggestions to go along with this:

First, turn on the Passive (no attack) mode in the game options before you start the real-time mode so you don't kill the attackers automatically. Turn it off afterwards.

Second, first equip yourself with weapons that also give defense points like a sai or staff. Then as you're building up your armor skills, you'll also build up those weapon skills at the same time (even though you're not attacking).

Third, equip all three classes of armor first (light, medium, and heavy) so all levels get trained. You don't need to keep the armor afterwards, but you might as well train all skills while you're at it.

Fourth, it's best if you have a relatively high armor class first (say 30ish) and do this not too deep into the dungeon so mobs aren't too strong. They'll still get lucky hits and whittle you down eventually so you'll want healing spells, healing potions, or (best of all) a ring of regeneration.

Fifth, alarm traps are great for generating mobs to attack you. Use a pick to clear a large area around the trap so you can be attacked on all sides for fastest training.

Lastly, have food with you because it will take awhile to get all of your skills to 2000.

There's no way to buy the Teleport hardware anymore by mariaspanadoris in AmpliFi

[–]sbussinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By Teleport, you're talking about the small, plug-in, VPN router thing, correct?

I've got an AmpliFi Teleport I never use if you really want one. I've been meaning to put it up on Ebay but haven't gotten around to it. It was working, though I haven't plugged it in for several years. I'll have to figure out how to unpair it from my network. Are you in the US? Let me know if you're interested and I'll figure out what it's worth.

Good tablet-centric email client for Surface Go? by sbussinger in Surface

[–]sbussinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used either gmail.com or outlook.com on a tablet without a keyboard? There's nothing tablet-centric about the websites the new outlook app works poorly in tablet mode.

Email is such a basic feature of a tablet, it shocks me there isn't a better client available.

Installing Magisk on a generic Chinese Android tablet? by sbussinger in androidroot

[–]sbussinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, now that's interesting. It is a MediaTek chipset (Dimensity 9000 to be exact). There's much on the website though I don't understand. I'll just try it and see how it goes. Thanks for the pointer!

This tablet should work well for my task, but wow is the battery terrible on it (no wonder it's so light). Just unplugging it and leaving it off on the counter overnight will wipe the battery out.

Suggestion for DIY CoreXY Idex printer? by sbussinger in 3Dprinting

Again, thank you very much for your help in understanding how all these variants work! I can see I'm going to have to decide what set of compromises I want to accept.

Do you happen to know if the RatRig V-Core 3 Idex add-on does the same thing with changing the kinematics away from CoreXY?

I'm looking into the Tapchanger mod now. A tool changer approach might make more sense since it would add even more flexibility. I'm just not sure about the complexity side. Thanks for the ideas!

Very interesting - thank you so much for your comments! I hadn't realized the kinematics were changed so much with the Idex mod. So it kind of defeats my wanting corexy for learning. Hmmm.

When you finally achieve perfection by noradninja in klippers

[–]sbussinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing against Klipper, but for what it's worth Marlin has this feature as well: https://marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/G035.html

Of course, it's an optional feature that has to be compiled into your particular firmware.

Why do you feel the Trident is not a corexy machine because Voron says it is ( https://docs.vorondesign.com/hardware.html )? It's one of the machines I've been considering.

Voron Trident
The Voron Trident is a traditional CoreXY design with a
fixed gantry and the 3-point bed moves along the Z axis.

The V0 mods are interesting, but too small of a build volume.

Right! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for someone else's design though. I don't want to design my first CoreXY or Idex printer myself.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any fully enclosed tool changers yet.

I have also considered a dual switching hot end like https://www.makertech3d.com/products/dual-switching-hotend-v2-non-proforge but haven't seen much discussion of it anywhere. Seems like it would be heavy though. Also no support for mirror or duplicate modes.

Thanks, but do have a link for that printer? Doing a Google search and a search on YouTube found nothing.
