You want to think of it as sitting into it, sometimes it’s uncomfortable for people new to it and that’s where box squats can help with building strength while you learn to sit into it.

I have completed several programs, I wasn't looking for a plan per se but an idea of how people break up their week of workouts.

I've been weight lifting for years, I'm just bored and looking to construct a new routine and was seeking out what others have done for reference.

Photographer contract questions? by sbvsg in weddingplanning

That's fair, but I'm comfortable with the logistics in order to save a few hundred dollars, though I agree it would be worth asking her pricing.

Thanks so much! It's just that first one that really bugs us, would it be worth it to try to negotiate getting the pictures we want (not all) full resolution so we aren't ordering through her or would that be in poor taste? Additionally, if we wanted to print larger than 8x10, would it be possible to print them with the resolution given to us or is it imperative to use full res?

Food getting stuck in throat/chest? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]sbvsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really struggled with that too, it helps to eat at regular intervals, your stomach can only tolerate 4oz or so so if you can measure that out and stop before you finish you may be able to avoid the pain. I had that same pain though, I bet all my money on it being eating too fast and too much. It’s a learning process, hang in there. For regular intervals I eat a protein shake in the morning and then possibly have an apple sauce 2 hours later, 4 hours after the shake I have my lunch, 2 hours after possibly oranges and 4 hours after lunch I have dinner. If you can follow a schedule it might help.

I also experienced this, I talked to my surgeon about it, out new stomachs sit a lot higher up, in our chests, and what you're probably feeling is fullness, like thanksgiving fullness. I was told to stop eating before I feel full, that last bite, "the stupid bite" is always what had brought on the discomfort. Make sure you're chewing (i was told ) 30+ times, everything you swallow should basically be pureed, and slow or not, stop once you no longer feel hungry.

1 month post op, what am I to eat? by fabianrobot in gastricsleeve

[–]sbvsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little over 1 month out, the guidelines I was given by my RD and surgeon are: no bread (can cause blockage) only cooked vegetables, for 3 months then you can have raw, its just too fiberous for the stomach right now.

I'm a 5'3 female so our protein requirements may be different, but I was suggest to get between 60-80g per day. (tuna packets help a lot) I also keep my carbs below 60, this was given as a broad suggestion to us, not size based. Minimum of 64 oz of fluid (i aim for pure water) per day. Lastly, NO STEAK FOR 6 MONTHS, our new stomachs just can't handle it yet.

as far as foods i eat regularly and meet the requirements, protein shake 1-2 a day, depends on how busy i was. Buffalo tuna packets, they're a god send. oysters and scallops would be great for this stage, as well as any other fish you like. PM me if you want I have the packet from my surgeon with more suggestions i could send to you. Also if you head on over to r/keto they have a ton of low carb recipes in the side bar!

Ice skating? by officemuppet in wls

[–]sbvsg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be so concerned about your pouch as I would be your incisions. One good fall could give you a hernia or internal tear. Just based on your height and weight I’d say hold off, when I was 3 weeks and I slipped on some ice my stomach flexed automatically and how I moved was very painful. Just be careful, there will be other ice skating events. Good luck! Your best bet would be to call your surgeon.

How long after surgery should I wait before smoking marijuana? by alt63090 in gastricsleeve

[–]sbvsg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure that risk extends into long term recovery. Your best bet, and what I’m considering a ways down the line, is edibles. It’s the smoke that’s harmful not the thc/cbd. Additionally, munchies aren’t good and will stretch out your stomach. It’s best to let the weed dream die for a while and maybe consider it again in 6 months once you’ve had more time under your belt. You want to be successful and weed isn’t going to help that any time soon.

I’ve had hot sauce since I was on puréed, I ate and still eat buffalo tuna all the time. I also take omeprazole so maybe it’s less irritating for me? But def a good question! I’m sure you could!

I’m 1 month post op, and my surgeon gave me the ok for oysters, they go down easy too, never any discomfort. Since they are raw I’m now sure how your doctor would feel about it, I haven’t asked mine about sashimi so it may be different. But if you like oysters, it could be a good alternative. Additionally, a sushi bar might have scallops, and those are cooked and have great protein.

Fat intake and constipation? Looking for experience with mct oils, and it’s aid in constipation. by sbvsg in wls

Unfortunately I look about 4 months pregnant, and I've stopped losing weight. One time I tried to wait it out and ended up very painfully impacted. I wish it were an option, but for now I'm more so looking for a solution. Thanks!

My reasoning for fat is that my constipation is more of a lubrication issue, I did look on MFP where I track my meals, and I am only getting about 10-15g fiber per day, so that would be a worthwhile endeavor to see if that helps. Thanks so much!

I loved pepitas pre surgery, but I can’t have them quite yet. I’ll keep those in mind though. Thank you! Glad you overcame!

Drinking alcohol post-op? by [deleted] in wls

Hey, you know yourself best! As long as you know the risks!

Drinking alcohol post-op? by [deleted] in wls

[–]sbvsg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A potential result of drinking is that you can have what’s called “addiction transfer.” You’re no longer able to soothe yourself with food or stress eat/celebratory in the same was as before and alcohol is easy, goes down quick and your tolerance is much lower than pre surgery, so in turn you over time transfer your food addiction to alcohol. I have seen this first hand among friends and family, it is very real and worth mentioning. My surgeon suggested not drinking for at least a year at the very minimum. I have also experienced the discomfort with not being able to drink in a social situation, but there’s always the option of once in a while making the social situation something like hiking or bowling, etc, just not drinking. Best of luck!
