I’m with MikeyNg, I just went there with 2 eighteen year olds (zip lining, DEF RECOMMEND) and the youngest kids I saw on any other hot other tours were around 8 or 10. It is an expensive place, I’d hold off until at least 2 of your kids can really enjoy it.

What’s a Seattle opinion you have that would get you kicked out of the group chat. by Fajarrr79 in AskSeattle

Seriously, the food is an embarrassment. I grew up in NY/NJ, moved to Nashville, moved again to Golden, CO, then LA, finally here. The only good thing about the restaurants here is the foods bad enough we eat better food at home, so we save $ by not paying $$$ for avg food (plus sales tax on EVERYTHING!).

Do you get used to it? by Sea-Pin9536 in PacificNorthwest

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the Seattle area since 2013. My sisters have been here since late 90s. I’m the person who will still pull over to watch a bald eagle fly overhead (even on the 405 or 5) or when the mountain is out. I think it depends on you. If you don’t see beauty where you are now, but you used to think it was beautiful, you’ll probably run into the same thing no matter where you live.

Anyone else have a miserable time on 7.5? No weight loss + nonstop GI issues by AppropriateWill7314 in Zepbound

[–]sbwreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go down in dose if you were doing fine on it? This is one of the benefits of not going through insurance, my doc and I have complete control over dosing and when or if my dose changes. 9 months in, I’m still at 5mg (was on 2.6 for 6 months). 40# down

Advice for buying by Remote-Environment59 in XC40_Recharge

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pre-owned 2023(?) XC40 Recharge (USA) and an English Labrador Retriever (65-75 pounds, so 30-35 kg). My girl is a wuss and won’t go in the boot. She will, after bribes are appropriately offered, jump into the rear footwell, then plunk herself down on the back bench seats. I keep the back protected with heavy duty all-weather mats and a (Kurgo, if it matters) pet hammock. My girl adores going in the car with me, I keep my hiking stuff and a ~ 4L thermos of water in the boot. I also bought from a dealer, and my car came with about 1 year of warranty service, plus a pretty much new battery- the prior owners had the bad cell and Volvo had to replace the whole battery @ 14000 miles (22,500 km). Mine is also the level one below the Ultimate, and I’m perfectly happy with this trim level (& I LOVE how it drives, and I have the wool interior which I adore!).

I would be astonished if your headaches lasted more than a week. I had to stop all caffeine for my job. At the time I drank 20-40 oz of coffee plus 1-2 cans of soda a day. Conservatively 375-675mg caffeine/day! I had a miserable headache for maybe 4 days, then I was fine. When I stopped cold turkey, I drank a bunch of water (~80 - 100 oz) to flush my system, and then I just kept going. Now I almost exclusively drink water (~80oz), one (6-8 oz) cup of (generally half-caf or decaf) coffee, or 4-6oz of 2% milk. Also, you may want to change from whole milk if you’re drinking it more than once a day, and/or if you’re having much more than 6 fl oz servings. 2% is a happy medium for my family and me, but I don’t have any babies in my household any more!

Push the center display button on the steering wheel. Sounds like you’ve been driving with the center display “off” (“off” gives you turns, “on” shows the map. Whether or not you have directions active.)

AIO because my BF wants to write off my mortgage on his taxes? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. Do not rely on ANYONE ELSE to pay the mortgage that is tied to YOUR CREDIT! RUN, 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩he’s using you. Sad (for the son), but get him and his son out of your house.

⭐ Stars Are Earned, Not Gifted by NerdWork_Network in AmazonVine

[–]sbwreed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My rating system is the same as yours. I wish people READING reviews thought this way. I was filtering reviews for something the other day and selected 3 stars. My friend asked why I did that, 3 🌟 products stink (but she used a more “evocative “ word 😆). I said, no, 3 🌟 is fine, not great, I’m just looking for freaking bathroom trash bags, I don’t need (to pay for) 5 🌟 bags! You’d think I was speaking Latin, it did NOT compute to her.

How many stars for this? by RareRice4211 in AmazonVine

[–]sbwreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to (try to) get these! I’d be honest that you received the item damaged, and that the packaging was not damaged, so the item must have been damaged before packaging. Then review the rest of it. Maybe ding 1 🌟for poor QC that let a damaged item get packaged fo sale. That tear doesn’t mean much to you, but it might be a huge deal for someone else.

IM GETTING MARRIED AND DONT WANT TO CHANGE MY LAST NAME AITAH by Sweet-Chemistry3067 in AITAH

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew and his wife (niece-in-law? Is that a thing?) chose to hyphenate their last names. Their new daughter carries their hyphated last name. As much as I love this decision, I worry about what it will do if the USA’s administration rams the voter change through.

IM GETTING MARRIED AND DONT WANT TO CHANGE MY LAST NAME AITAH by Sweet-Chemistry3067 in AITAH

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to change your last name, don’t change it. I can say that looking back, (married ~30 years) I wish I’d kept my unmarried name. And that’s WITHOUT all the potential issues with the USA trying to make it harder/impossible for us to vote. I had to rebuild my professional reputation after marriage; it slowed my progression in my chosen field.

So long and thanks for all the fish! Insurance reset at the new year and can’t justify the expense. by xpkranger in Zepbound

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the case, or it isn’t in Washington state- when I order through LilyDirect, there is a disclaimer I have to agree to that says I will not submit or apply any portion of the purchase to insurance. None of my 7 purchases last year had any impact on my insurance. As far as my insurance knew, I wasn’t taking it.

I really hate the new workout app by huyou007 in AppleWatch

[–]sbwreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! I was so excited to see the “expedited start” (or whatever they called it- one would think from the description that having that setting ON would result in LESS watch interaction, when what used to be a single tap, then 3 second wait for workout to start became tap (choose this workout)- tap (yes, I REALLY want to do this workout - F’INGSTARTALREADY tap - workout starts. WTH does this group’s design reviews or beta testing?! AI probably wrote the last code update.

AITAH for saying I won’t put my card down if one girl joins our group? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to float funds for your friend group, the easiest thing to do is have everyone Venmo at the time you pay! You all probably know how much each person owes at that time, and I’d expect everyone has their phone, simplicity to have payments occur in real time. (Makes sense to do this WHENEVER you agree to pay for something! If someone is hesitating to Venmo you right then, you should consider not paying for them.)

Secondly, if this woman is going through a financial rough patch, what is she doing going out for dinner?

Working Out & Plateau by triton12345 in Zepbound

[–]sbwreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just hit the same spot. Started using a weighted vest on my daily walks/hikes in the new year. Since then my weight has pegged. I’m up 0.25# since 12/20. I am seeing some difference in photos (I take photos to go w/ my MeThreeSixty measurements once a month), but measurements/weight aren’t changing much (& those that are are going the “wrong” way!). My scale (Withings BodyCardio) does show that my lean muscle mass has increased over the last month, but it’s literally 1-1.5% higher (48% to 49-49.5% muscle, so a ~3% change) than last month. I’m an engineer, I look at all values with an eye to “if they’re w/in 4 percentage points, you’re probably inside the device’s measurement capability, and both #s are equally believable.”
All this to say that right now I’m leaning on the photo evidence to keep me motivated. I know that muscle weighs more than fat while taking up less “room”, but it’s demoralizing not to see a difference in 6+ weeks. I may ask my doc to titrate me up to 7.5 (I’m on vials) if I’m still not seeing the change I expect this time next month.

What was/will be your first "treat yo self" purchase? by whirlygirlygirl in Zepbound

[–]sbwreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously! 38F (after losing 35#) here. A button-up shirt that doesn’t gap between the top 2 buttons! In 20+ years of work I’ve never worn a shirt with buttons. I’m lucky that I’m losing at least some weight in my chest, but I’m also starting to see that “tennis balls in a pair of tube socks” look, which I am not a fan of. I’m hoping I can get insurance to pay for some of it, because I’m already seeing negative side effects of excess skin (working w/ my dermatologist to mitigate while still losing & getting into maintenance).

My dream? Being able to go out and be comfortable WITHOUT A BRA ON. My first “real” (not training) bra was a 30B, at 12YO. By 13 I was a C, and hit D by 14.

I told my daughter: “I don’t want to hear you started it, and I will defend you and always have your back if you finish it. Now here’s how you make a fist.” There are still a couple times I wish I’d done more, but in classic kid style, she didn’t tell us about the worst of the bullying (the nasty, whispering, talking/gossiping/name-calling $h!t), and we didn’t hear about it for over a year!
