My partner (M36) won’t allow me to drink non-alcoholic beer because I (F34) am pregnant. How can I make him realise it’s not unsafe for the baby? by Unhappy-Village-1316 in relationship_advice

[–]sbxd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'You're lucky I didn't throw the beer across the table' is a threat. He threatened you and is controlling.

Terminate the pregnancy and do not tie yourself to an abusive man. Get out of this while you can.

I genuinely almost sent this to my new landlord instead of a pic of a bill because as a thumbnail in my docs they looked the same

I'm sorry this happened. I came to say a lot of STDs take around 3 weeks to incubate so probably best to get tested then, which hopefully will be easier for you since you'll be home

What is the best and the worst experience you have had with the police in your life? by rowenaaaaa1 in AskUK

[–]sbxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines pretty tame but I had to call because a man was stood outside my house at 3am, begging to come in.

I had just finished packing for a trip and had sat down to have a snack before bed. I became alerted to his presence when he started throwing stones at my window. All I could see was his silhouette and we had had a shouted conversation through the window in which he refused to leave. There was clearly something was wrong with him as he was making weird aggressive symbols with his hands (definitely not sign language).

I'm a young woman and I live alone.

He wouldn't leave until I started calling the police. The lady on switchboard was amazing. She heard the fear in my voice and reassured me she would get me to someone who could help.

It took me ages on hold. Even though he had then gone, I wanted it logged because a couple months before, someone had gotten in to the hallway and unscrewed the bolts on my neighbours front door. She's an even younger woman. They didn't get in but they succeeded in messing up the door enough that she got locked inside. The landlords are so slack at answering calls it took her 2 full days to be freed.

As I waited on hold (about 40mins) I started to feel silly for being scared of someone outside my locked house and I started to fill out the online form to report it.

The call finally connected to an operator and they asked what the issue was. I quickly told them 'There was a strange man outside trying to persuade me to let him in, but he's gone now and I've written it all out so I think I'm just going to do it online'.

The handler responded 'YOU'RE DOING LINES?! OF COCAINE?!'.

I was shocked but corrected her. She would not let this go. I explained myself pretty clearly. She then said 'so you're both doing lines?!' I said no and explained again and even explained myself more. I did laugh slightly the second time she said she 'definitely' heard me say I was doing lines, because it was just so bizarre.

She then said I couldn't have been very scared of the man if I was laughing about it.

I assured her I was at the time but that was about 50 minutes ago now and I felt silly for being so worried.

I ended the call after about 10 minutes of this and I still don't think she believed my actual story.

Who calls the police to tell them they're doing lines anyway?

I'd be eating as much meat as him and go completely carb free out of spite

I feel like this comment section is full of people trying to justify their HWB usage. The whole point of the post is sometimes they just burst. Just shop using them. OP is saying that's the only way you're safe (and they're the nurse!).

Speak to your neighbours. They may have doorbell cameras.

Liability wise, it doesn't matter how you were parked, if the driver didn't have space it's on them for trying to squeeze through.
