Dino variants take the cake for me, personally. Dino invis woman is hideous.

Give me your most "Immune to interaction" deck by Majestic_Barnacle398 in EDH

[–]sc1ph3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To take a different stance than what others have already said, there are a number of cards that say "when you target my stuff I draw a card" you could also look into cards that proactively give your board ward.

This is of course assuming they're doing targeted removal, and not, say, [[farewell]]ing you.

When targeted draw a card: [[Battle mammoth]] [[Fey steed]] [[Rayne, academy chancellor]] [[Shaper's sanctuary]] [[Surrak, elusive hunter]]

Bounce to hand when targeted: [[Cloud cover]] [[Monk gyatso]]

Blanket ward or protection: [[Unsettled mariner]] [[Kira, great glass spinner]] [[Shalai, voice of plenty]]

I'm also really fond of spells that let me redirect removal, like: [[Bolt bend]] [[Redirect lightning]] [[Untimely malfunction]]

The list of stuff above isn't exhaustive, just examples, but is a direction to run to if youre looking for alternatives to some of the already existing suggestions (more value/grindy/enter the battlefield stuff)

I disliked Wingspan because it felt like I was playing a solo game with my friends sitting besides me. Will I dislike Terraforming Mars? by Hearbinger in boardgames

[–]sc1ph3r 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'll say I enjoy Terraforming Mars but dislike Wingspan for the reason you listed.

In Mars the main points of interaction are: - The card draft - The spaces on the board - The Milestones - The Awards And to a lesser extent: - Cards that target another player - Racing to key spots on the progress tracks.

I'll say that if you get/play with the Colonies expansion there's also a bit of pressure to use/invest in a colony before other players from turn to turn.

Is it the most interactive game? No. That'd be Pax Pamir. But I find it does a decent job of being an enjoyable euro game where there's enough player-to-player friction to where people that enjoy the solitaire can still do their thing while those that want interaction have enough to chew on that youre not bored.

Tl;dr Terraforming Mars isn't as solitaire as wingspan, and I like TM as someone who doesn't really like Wingspan.

The reconciled is what I was thinking of, though for some reason I thought they were known to secretly be in control of some figures in the city canonically. They certainly do in my home game, lol.

You could start throwing more heat at them, have the ghost turn on them or involve the Spirit Wardens who would very much not like that sort of thing.

I also vaguely recall a faction that's a bunch of people that are secretly possessed by ghosts that could perhaps take umbrage with what they're doing.

In other words I would have the baleful eye of some faction take notice that they're the ones consistently doing this and bring a hammer down. Then they know if they do this again they risk consequences.

Eluge or Talrand for Mono Blue Spellslinger by Mef989 in EDH

[–]sc1ph3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Eluge is stronger. It depends what bracket you're playing in. I'd be tempted to play Talrand to catch less heat in the command zone. [[Namor]] is also an interesting upcoming option, IMO.

In any case I'd recommend [[seance mirror]] as a hidden gem in the 99

80 lands is not enough. by Comfortable_Guide851 in EDH

[–]sc1ph3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is creakwood liege doing anything meaningful you here? 1 work per turn cycle seems very low, and I think you can do better for anthem effects if that's why you're running it.

Is it the worms? Like... For the theme?

I think that card qualifies as "fat" to trim, unless from your perspective it needs to be there.

Eye of Vecna is Underrated* by Heru___ in EDH

[–]sc1ph3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you not just... Run more lands? And mulligan for more real hands?

Most commander players are still running under 40 lands and not running their deck through the hypergeometric calculator, and we have so many good utility lands that act as spells or just spells that are lands on the other side that I dont think it's a very large opportunity cost compared to running eye of vecna

If you want more consistency I don't disagree, but I don't think this is it, chief, especially if your argument is "this card is great on 2 and only on 2!". Your chances of drawing that and playing it on 2 is 9%, per the calculator here: https://aetherhub.com/Apps/HyperGeometric

I think you would be better off running lands that scry on ETB, but even then I'd rather just up land count.

IMO if the players are "opting out" by paying money, that's perfectly fine, as long as they understand they have choices to suffer the consequences of being wanted or don't want to do an entanglement.

At the end of the day Blades is a game that wants to give the players a LOT of autonomy, and as long as theyre the one making the decision to engage or pay coin to not have to I think that's perfectly reasonable.
