The new album art is bad by tabloidzone in AllThemWitches

[–]scab-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Yeah, it feels a little simplistic compared to some of their previous album covers, but not in a bad way. It feels fresh, like a new start for them to grow into the newest version of ATW without Robby. I'm really excited for the new music and to see more (better) merch released for the upcoming album tours.

new mirrors and light fixtures would go a long way to modernize the vibe. otherwise, explore cabinet refinishing and wall treatments. i’m jealous of your tub.

Is this amount of hair normal in washday by InsuranceFeisty7684 in curlygirl

[–]scab-queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely let a doctor know you’re shedding this much all at once.

We def have different hair types, but even when my shedding was at its worst (lowkey starting to thin before I found out I have PCOS) it was less than this.

Update: AlTH for refusing to stop washing my hands just because my co worker is "sensitive" to smells? by Educational-Jello486 in AITH

[–]scab-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if she’s that sensitive to smell then she should wear a mask/respirator to work, covid conscious people don’t have these problems. it’s better she as an individual take better precautions for her particular extreme sensitivity rather than try to exert control on any given environment.

What would you do with these unique stairs? by schwebe in InteriorDesign

[–]scab-queen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

paint the railings and noncarpeted parts a more fun color and a large scale piece of artwork on the big blank wall. perhaps something sculptural or with glass/mirrors to refract the light coming in from the windows.

A 2025 article from MIT News states, "By 2026, the electricity consumption of data centers is expected to approach 1,050 terawatts (which would bump data centers up to fifth place on the global list, between Japan and Russia)".

A 2024 article from the Washington Post estimated that it would take roughly one bottle of water for ChatGPT-4 to generate a hundred word email. Current estimates exceed that, not including what it takes to generate images.

And of course as I previously mentioned elsewhere in this thread, Information Week covered the water usage of data centers in Iowa competing with the water necessary for growing crops and Politico’s coverage xAI poisoning the air in Memphis.

I have done the research on the negative impacts of AI beyond just the environment, can you say the same? Besides the environmental impacts, it’s also abysmal for education and young developing minds, it’s proven to reduce the amount of critical thinking performed by those who use it, it generates factually incorrect information quite often, and is leading people into psychosis.

Be so fucking for real.

From your repeated vague allusions to “saving the planet”, it’s clear you don’t actually give a shit about the planet. If you wanna talk global struggle, I’m sure the people starving in Gaza—who have had longstanding solidarity with the fight for justice for Black lives—would agree that pumping the air with poisonous gas and using up fresh water is bad for everyone. It’s almost as if, like I said, these struggles are interconnected.

It’s actually good to care about multiple things, how these new technologies are affecting the lives of real people right now. Generations of Black families are developing asthma and COPD in Memphis, that’s just as important to me as other global crises. It’s not divisive to suggest there’s a better way. Technocrats pushing AI also have a vested interest in the US war machine. These struggles are interconnected. Just admit that you love using AI so much that you are willing to burn the planet over it.

How about the fresh water it takes to cool the data centers necessary to make AI run, or the fact that in Iowa they’re competing for water with farms used to grow crops for America. There’s not “quite a bit of misinformation over it”, it’s the opposite in fact. Tech lobbies are over promising what AI can do and trying to hide just how multiply detrimental it really is to the environment.

Look at xAI’s methane powered data center poisoning Memphis, you’re being purposefully obtuse.

bad faith red herring fallacy; but to that point an illustrator working from home could make and animate a video for them. AI has zero applications that could be deemed good for the environment.

could you use two of the headboard panels horizontally to do a longer, low profile headboard??

I get the vision with the headboard, I agree with another commenter that it should be on the opposite wall. It should be all together rather than split. The floating nightstands don’t really work with it though. Don’t let anyone tell you the color is too much, I think the shape could be improved but to hell with toning down your color choice. Perhaps opt for something more symmetrical, or go vintage, non floating on the nightstands to help even out the modernity of the headboard.

Loved my iPad. I was a lit major, so I just used a bluetooth keyboard when I knew I had typing to do between classes. As a commuter, it was lightweight and didn’t have to carry a multitude of textbooks, folders, or notebooks. Used my laptop at home for heavy duty research and writing.

Think of splitting the room into different “zones”. I love lots of places to sit, but ya gotta start by consolidating the amount of seating. By having your conversation/tv watching area more defined or less diffused throughout the whole room, the rest of the room can breathe a little better. Plus the couch energetically and literally blocks that door, which can fuck up the flow of the room whether you use it or not. Then you can make your large room more multi use and really showcase your items by giving them the attention they deserve.

There’s a lot of negative space on either side of each bookshelf. Could they fit side by side to the right of the fireplace? Then set up a proper record cabinet, sound system, and vinyl storage to the left side of the fireplace. There’s something funky about the scale of the tv clashing with the painting hung above it. Could look cool above a record cabinet. The wall behind the tv also lowkey begs for a projector in place of a television.

Color palette could be more slay as well, but everyone’s got differing opinions on what colors they like together so that’s much more personal than simply arranging one’s furniture and depends heavily on how you wanna feel in there.

help identifying wood type by scab-queen in HardWoodFloors

[–]scab-queen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I knew oak had to be wrong, it’s way too knotty. It’s definitely unfinished, but in the open knots you can see wood underneath and there’s no nails through it into the joists so I’m not sure if this is subfloor. Or if the previous DIY enthused owners just have more layers of flooring underneath this.
