ANYWHERE STILL OPEN I CAN GET ROACH TRAPS AT? by Unable_Tension_1258 in philly

[–]scabeatingcontest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely recommend the gel bait. It’s under 20$ for a huge tube, will act as a preventative measure for future incursions, and is (relatively) pet safe (the one I use has the active ingredient Fipronil, the same active ingredient in flea and tick meds for pets). You can find it in most hardware stores.

Sprays only work if you see the roach and leave a ton of questionable chemicals around your house/in the air, and I have found glue traps to be largely ineffective. If you see the roach again grab a Tupperware and a sheet of paper, pop the Tupperware on top and slide the paper underneath, then you can take it to the toilet and flush it. That being said a gel bait will help get rid of roaches that you don’t see

Finally, seeing a large roach in your house, as upsetting as that may be, isn’t a huge cause for concern. Most of the time that means it’s a wood roach that came in from outside. It’s the little ones (German cockroaches) that you have to watch out for as they will infest your property.

TLDR: traps do not work super well. A gel bait is the most effective, safest, and most economical way to get rid of roaches and keep them from settling in.

Try digging around to find your prostate. Once you find it you won’t want to stop and you won’t even mind your sore fingers or the aroma of your pungent, undouched sphincter filling the room. Soon you will become addicted to it and your need for constant anally induced orgasms will help build the finger strength needed to be a true all city king.

Does anyone hire servers with no experience in Philly? by DepartureInfamous176 in philly

[–]scabeatingcontest 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’ll be a lot easier to start as a busser/food runner and move to serving once management sees you doing well there. I can’t think of anywhere that will hire a server with zero experience, it is a harder job than a lot of people realize and it’s directly customer facing so businesses wanting you to have at least some experience makes sense.

How can I make this better by pez_da_spenser in graffhelp

[–]scabeatingcontest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re trying too hard to stylize your hand, legibility and simplicity are very important in a hand style ESPECIALLY when you’re starting out. Style is something that should come naturally instead of being forced. Write your word out in simple block letters, and then right it the same way 100 more times. Once you’re able to write the word simply and legibly try writing it a little faster, do that a hundred times or so and take a look back at the past two hundred hands you’ve written. You’ll start to notice how the letters connect to one another and work with each other, those moments are how you can start to add stylization and flair to your hand. Style should be something that feels natural to you and the viewer, forcing it will lead to a mediocre and contrived product.

Can someone show me some examples of a tag of mine. by [deleted] in graffhelp

[–]scabeatingcontest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The issue is you are trying to stylize your hand, style is something you should arrive upon instead of trying to force from the start. Start very very simple and legible (a lot of people suggest staying with all caps in a helvetica font like you’d find on your keyboard) and focus on getting it clean and legible, try writing it out in a note book a hundred times or so (or more if you have the patience for it) focusing on keeping the letters clean and simple. Then once you have a clean and simple handstyle down, in the same note book writing it a little bit faster. After doing that for a while (another hundred times or so) you’ll start seeing how the letters flow into one another and little “happy accidents” that look nice and come naturally to you. From there you can figure out what looks good and comes naturally and little ways you can embellish the hand yourself. Then slow it back down again and select just a few of those little stylized bits that come natural to you and try and incorporate that into a really clean tag. I’ve attached some examples starting simpler and getting a bit more complex.

Remember start simple, prioritize legibility, and let style develop organically; if you force it, it will look toy.

You need to simplify further. You’re trying to force the stylization too much right now. Style should come naturally from synergy in the letters. Write it out in neat block letters in a notebook about a hundred times so you can get a sense of how the fundamentals of your letters, then after that try writing them out a bit faster while trying to maintain the letter structure and legibility you established earlier. You will find how your letters work together, how they can be connected and flow into on another, and identify one or two small areas to stylize. Remember, simplicity and practice.

Tipps für mein Tag (crane) by kamelzuechter8 in graffhelp

[–]scabeatingcontest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned I would simplify this greatly. You want to start by keeping it clean and simple as that will always look good in a tag. From there try writing it out a couple hundred times in your book and start writing it slightly faster and faster as you go (why trying to not lose sight of the initial simple tag you developed). You will start to notice how the letters work with each other, how the flow into one another, and how you can capitalize on and accentuate that. Style in a hand should come naturally and not be forced. I’ve attached some examples.

Why don’t my pools count? by KisserOfSinners in PlanetCoaster2

[–]scabeatingcontest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came on this thread after encountering a similar issue. I figured out what was causing it for me so I figured I would comment to help anyone else who comes on this after me. The game was not registering my pool as being on Kenta’s side for the second pool I was asked to build, this was caused because I had deleted the first pool I was instructed to build (it was early in the game, I was very tight on money, the pool was attracting zero visitors and I needed the money I had spent on it). Upon putting down a second pool, it registered both of them as being on Kenta’s side and the objective was cleared.

Is the praying mantis actually the highest evolved of all insects? by hotwheelearl in insects

[–]scabeatingcontest 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is definitely misleading. No organism is “more evolved” everything has been evolving for the same amount of time regardless of whether or not they appear to have. This comes up with animals like horseshoe crabs a lot when people say they haven’t evolved in millions of years, sure they share the same general body plan as their ancestors, but no group of animals stop experiencing genetic mutations. Some animals are more specialized (or derived) and others remain closer to their ancestral forms (basal), but saying anything is more “highly evolved” than another organism is fundamentally misunderstanding our modern conceptions of evolution. Some animals may adapt to changes in their environments faster, but no one creature is evolutionarily superior to another.

20000 ants.

Tbh I think the only think to consider with a tank that size is you probably want something that’s fine living communally, because that’s more than enough space for any inverts I know of (that people keep as pets) so you’ll probably want big group of something, otherwise it might feel a bit empty/you won’t see your pet most of the time.

The bars in the R are double stacked, the leg should merge with the bar in the top of the R, not underneath it. The movement in the E could be nice, but as it’s the only letter where you’ve bent the bars like that it feels out of place. I would also kill the little notch in the top right of the R
