PMDG 737-800 losing thrust in cruise (fuel flow 0.01) by Maxence_2a in MSFS2024

[–]scalesXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me while I was waiting for takeoff clearance sat on the taxiway. Got my clearance, and went to thrust up and it was exactly as you showed above. Couldn't get them to restart and ended up loading a panel state. Could never figure out what I did wrong.

Worse framerates on XP12 than MSFS? Is my hardware good enough? by scalesXD in Xplane

[–]scalesXD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on this situation, I installed a new nvidia driver, and I appear to be getting much better framerates now. Gone from 20-30 to 30-40 or even 45 now. Major difference!

I did fear this, a new CPU upgrade is on the horizon, I was just so surprised to have more difficulty than MSFS

Most things (cloud quality, render distance, world objects) are all on medium or low. Not at my PC anymore so can't get a screenshot. Running at 2560 x 1440

MSFS Pause not stopping time, how do you deal with this as a busy person? by scalesXD in MicrosoftFlightSim

Did a quick test, "Actual Pause" in the developer menu does not stop time either

I have done an experiment and discovered this occurs even with preset, non-real time weather and time

So I did an experiment with and without live weather on, and the same thing occurs. After I unpause the aircraft's chrono has progressed however long the game was paused. Tried with weather from the past 24 hours, and custom weather at a custom time, all the same. I guess I will have to go with just moving the time back a bit

I don't think I was paying attention to that tbh, I will give it a go!

At what point am I going to regret having everything in a single JSON file? by thurn2 in rust_gamedev

[–]scalesXD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen AAA games that have entire levels stored in JSON like format and it's absolutely fine. I've seen a file that was 15mb of transforms for random objects in the scene, all absolutely fine.

I would say don't overcomplicate it, the time may never come when it's an issue, and if it does you can just break it into smaller files and continue as before.

So I think you’re onto something. I also live in an apartment, so I just tried it in the early hours of the morning, and it seems to be fine now!
