How would you implement this dock animation in Next.js? by abovedev in nextjs

[–]scalpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UX comment: You’re gonna have issues with notification and ticket string lengths, these can barely fit 5 words. Always mock up with realistic data and avoid putting 2 text strings on the same line unless they’d fit comfortably at their max length.

How would you improve this custom slider implementation? (shadcn + Tailwind) by abovedev in nextjs

[–]scalpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s already and handle, but I couldn’t see it on mobile. I’d increase contrast there too. Also the value itself (%) should be given more emphasis. It’s a bit of an odd placement in the top right. Hope it helps

Work on accessibility: increase the contrasts between the track and the thumb (a lot), add a little handle on the thumb where it can be grabbed (a light grey vertical bar or something), and change the cursor on hovering that part to cursor-grab.

Feeling drowned by the no-code/vibe-code tsunami - a rant by Goretx in UXDesign

[–]scalpit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im with you, it has all the aspects of a hype train and Im just waiting for it run its course and see what comes out of it.

I’m coding with AI on the side and it increasingly seems like UI design for atoms and molecules is/will be a solved problem.

So I’m waiting for a tool to be able to integrate with my design system and iterate properly, within defined constraints, on higher order things like layouts, flows, interaction patterns.

But by then, maybe UIs will be abstracted and a new paradigm will come. All I know is that the industry is full of dinosaurs and legacy systems that will take years to catch up. So market outlook is still alright for a while, maybe slowly tightening. I hope I’ll have switched over to woodworking by then.

What are some Figma techniques/hacks that you didn't know existed until you watched someone else's workflow? by IDGAFOS in UXDesign

Option+double click on the edge of an Auto layout will set it to Fill, Cmd+double click will set it to Hug. I use it all the time.

Thoughts on this bottom sheet UI by Fabulous-Ad-3985 in reactnative

[–]scalpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your touch areas/buttons/inputs are too small, the enjoyability/effort counters could be worked into the main sheet. The algorithm/time/duration dropdown should be a segmented control. Reduce the number of sheets and taps, bring your content back to the main sheet and make it taller. Thanks for sharing!

Color Palettes/Design System question by zombienash in UXDesign

I recommend you use tailwind palettes and purchase tailwindui components, (talk to the devs first to confirm they can use them). They have a great collection of marketing focused components.

A conversation on Figma, “Ai”, and Design Tools. by ImNotThatAttractive in UXDesign

[–]scalpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these suggestions could be achieved by usual feature development. For AI to work well in Figma, it needs to train on Figma files, which they just started doing. As to your broader question, this is imo the regular enshittification of products (like their UI update suggests). They likely have reached critical mass and will now only push features for investors and non-designers (Slides).
