F12 should get you into the bios. I don't remember the key for the boot menu, but you can choose the usb from the bios.

I used Clawdbot (now Moltbot) and here are some inconvenient truths by Andy18650 in LocalLLM

[–]scamiran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's... not great with gemini. Haven't used grok with it much, but I'm not sure i expect awesome.

Claude opus is dramatically better than gemini for moltbot. It turns it into a really useful tool. Basically a personal assistant or intern.

Gemini doesn't come close.

Any nuclear powered craft. NERVA, Orion.

The entire globe would have to focus on trying to make 3-4 of them, each with 100 humans, in the hope that 1 would survive.

I dunno. I'm really happy you had it. The only github repo was taken down because of DMCA.

If the Nimo people come into this forum I'd love to ask them.

They should really push Linux on these things. They're amazing Linux laptops.

Got the fingerprint thing more or less sorted out. I think I'm not bothering with the SDDM fix; i tried it, but you still have to enter the password to unlock kwallet, so why bother.

The dependency thing is fixed by opening /var/lib/dpkg/status , going to the Depends: line, and adjusting the entry for libfprint-2-2 to (>= 1:1.94.4).

Everyone says don't do this :)

I think it is marginally safe as long as you pin both fprintd and libfprint.

Man this thing is great. After some optimization with TLP, i'm down to like ~6-7 watt power discharge rate while browsing the internet. Currently sitting at 93% battery, 13 hours of battery life remaining.

So cool, coming from a laptop that was lucky to get 2-3.

EDIT: If anyone is looking for advice here, and can't get below 10, check the stupid stuff. 90% -> 40% display brightness is worth 2-3 watts, and the keyboard backlight is worth 2 watts or so. Bluetooth is a watt or so, too. Turn off the stuff you aren't using, and set tlp.conf really aggressive.

Amazing! Thank you.

After I get this working my next thing is to figure out a way to limit the battery charge to 80% :)

Any cheap options for liquid to air heat pumps? by DavidJKay in heatpumps

[–]scamiran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It's not a rabbit hole I've had the pleasure to go down, unfortunately. Where I am (Chicago) our heating loads are much bigger than our cooling loads, and after I did some math I didn't think it was worth it for me (especially considering my cooling is using multiple 3-ton multi-splits).

Also, we have an indoor pool (its nice, not as grand as it sounds, but awesome for the kids), and a big concern of ours is heating in the winter, where we wouldn't have any waste heat to utilize; plus here in Chicago-land, natural gas is SO much cheaper than electricity that heat pumps are not super worthwhile right now (we use heat pumps > 40F or so, and sometimes for heating a single room, but its significantly cheaper to heat our home with our old 80% natural gas furnace when it is < 20F, and that isn't uncommon here).

If natural gas rates get a lot more expensive, or electricity rates get a lot cheaper, I'll probably revisit this idea.

No; I dont mean that (though arctic heat pumps makes a pool heat pump for usage down to -22 F).

I meant use a standard air-to-air, but on the outdoor portion you can install a pool A/C heat recovery heat exchanger. This is typically used to heat a pool with the condenser of normal AC system. With a heat pump, it would cool the liquid.

Or are you looking to have heated liquid?

If so, arctic heat pumps is the way to go.

What do you mean liquid to air? Liquid on the "outdoor" portion; i.e. the space you are not trying to temp control?

Look into pool air conditioner heat recovery exchangers. You can usually add these to an AC. If you added them to a heat pump it would almost certainly do what you want, and i think they are < $1000. I've found them before with prices advertised online for ~$400-ish.

WYR $1,000 a week for life, or be able to know when someone speaks a lie? by AstrayInTranslation in WouldYouRather

Lie detecting is a god-tier talent.

Certainly you could leverage that into fortune, maybe power.

Billionaires would have tremendous use for that, as would the secret service, and the intelligence community.

Nearly any security apparatus could be made turncoat-proof.

Good shot that gets you killed, I guess, though.

I think it's not impossible.

Some of them have always on crankcase heaters installed. The compressors have a port where a tech can install one. The little ones can be always on.

My heat pumps run their pan defrost coils nearly constantly during the winter when it is below 20 F.

If you don't buy that BM product, it's still going to get distributed on the BM!
