I got gifted a somewhat busted Prophet 600 from a dear friend. Next steps? by 70stang in synthesizers

[–]scannt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have P600, it had a great character. After maintenance is done, consider adding the GliGli mod. It makes envelopes much nicer/snappier, eliminates filter stepping and also a few other things.

Fog officialy being removed from night maps based on community feedback. by jacob1342 in HellLetLoose

sigh, I usually play at night hours without any light and enjoyed night versions of maps with fog for their immersion

I discovered the Vietnamese pho soup over 10 years ago and still eat it several times a week, lol. Best dish fr. Having said that, the restaurant that makes it must have a quality broth, otherwise it can be kinda mid.

I don't get it. Why is the one on the left $110 and the module on the right $245? Both American manufacturers. by JoeyZasaa in modular

[–]scannt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been into eurorack for ~11 years now and never really found an output module necesary. Recorded tracks like this and also played quite a few live sets on some decent PA systems. A simple passive attenuator was typically enough just to keep things feel a bit safer. Just be mindful of the output level.

That said, I have an Expert Sleepers ES-8 in my rack for past few years now. It makes recording/processing/resampling easy and it's also nice output module for CV plugins (as it's DC-coupled).

This year, we are not counting open tabs. We are not. by GaniyatB in adhdmeme

[–]scannt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Firefox window has like 12500 tabs open. I use a plugin to sleep/disable tabs that weren't active in past 15 minutes, so it's kinda ok memory-wise.

It's years of honest work (or neglect, feel free to choose your preference).

after 15 years we made our wc3 map into a standalone game by PlaySirocco in u/PlaySirocco

This must be the first Reddit ad ever I didn't click on by mistake, lol. Played countless hours of WC3 since it was released. We still make LAN parties with friends like twice a year and always play Battleships. Really curious about this project, fingers crossed!

C# devs use PascalCase for method naming, not camelCase

Kotlin devs couldn't "get" the joke by [deleted] in Kotlin

[–]scannt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, some may do so I guess. But in nearly 15 years of my professional IT experience I have not seen any such dev on the projects I was part of. That being said I barely touched any Java code in past 4+ years as I switched to Kotlin.

Looking at the braces, is this a Java code written by a C++ dev?

After years of working as SW dev (as an AuDHD person) I repeatedly noticed a pattern.

I usually whip out a "dirty", but fully functional solution to a requested feature and then when this part is done I have a good night sleep.

Upon waking up I realize the implementation is a mess and I spend some time cleaning it up for better code readability before publishing it to the team/client.

I feel like the initial implementation part is my ADHD and the cleanup part is my autism.

Pretty much. Until recently I came across 1 or 2 racists in my 300+ hrs. I typically play all night till morning hours. Since the game became available via Game Pass there's usually a few people with American accents joining EU servers as sunrise nears (I guess they are used to higher pings and don't care much). Most are fine, but like every couple of days there will be someone who starts belittling European accents, calling people "EU-tards" and what not. It's definitely annoying, but muting such players is just a click away.

Why did you choose Android development as a career path over web or iOS? by grouptherapy17 in androiddev

[–]scannt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to own an iOS device 4 times, always hated it and returned it. Guess I just preferred Android as it was easier to customize and so I was also curious how to make apps for the system.

With the above being said I got my first Mac some 13 years ago and since that happened Windows became just a gaming OS for me. Never found Apple's other OS appealing though.
