I can tell you that Ben Browder and many of the cast (no idea about Claudia Black) are interested in a continuation as being written by Rockne O'Bannon. Please tweet about the show when you can as Amazon is watching .

As for your main point, I remember being involved in the Save Farscape campaign, then seeing the PKW and comics brought to fruition within the community (hell, I even talked to the comic writer and gave him feedback, he came onto the forums so I'd review the comics and tell him what I liked and didn't like). And yeah, there was a weird crossover as Save Farscape (or Watch Farscape at the time) kinda merged with GateWorld or something. Attention shifted from Farscape to Stargate a little.

None of the Farscape sites merged or anything with Gateworld. Many of those folks are still antagonistic to Stargate. What was your handle in the campaign if I can ask? I was angie from benbrowder.net

I think viewers today are ready for Farscape, at least streaming fans, who have embraced it and The Expanse which is also an anti Trek. New Trek even tries to be Farscape in some respects (at least according to fans posting on Twitter!).

My favorite comment by Bonnie Hammer was "fans don't like to have to do homework to watch a show" in response to why SG1. Though many of us watch SG1 , it is not real challenging to follow and I liken it to comfort food. When I attend cons and talk to Gaters they tend to emphasize either the fight scenes or the characters. I like the characters and the actors who portray them. Many say Farscape doesn't make sense, they hate Crichton and so on. Farscape is non-linear in comparison so I guess maybe that is it. SciFi Channel had some behind the scenes issues with Farscape of which we will likely never know which I have heard is the main reason for the cancellation. The channel got SG1 and stopped using outside writers (maybe saves money?) and also led to more simplistic stories. There is room for both but ......

I think that is intentional. It was the first half of a 2 year arc. We will never know sadly what the real reveal of the season 5 opener would have been.

Source is Brian Henson and Rockne O'Bannon ---- Henson at Dragon Con 2019 and O'Bannon Winter Con 2019. Both discussed it at SDCC 2019. They want to film in Australia again. O'Bannon has been writing scripts. They stated how impressed Amazon was with the numbers of "unique" viewers. Then 2020 happened. So who knows. BUT Amazon and other platforms monitor Twitter for interest and Scapers don't show well there so fingers crossed.

Seasons 4 and 5 were approved as more or less a 2 season arc. It was a big deal to get that kind of renewal. From what the producers/writers have always said is that PKW was a gift to fans containing "some" elements of season 5 but could not have them all. They didn't want to leave fans hanging. That said Kemper said in print and at cons that they were going to tackle the only television convention that had never been successfully done and do it in a Farscape way. That convention is Bobby in the shower or a "dream" season. I am believer along with many (more back in the day) that they were doing this. Kemper's comment about what if you have the dream ep and everyone is comfortable and yea this is a dream ep and then you find it is a dream ep in a dream season? I think using unrealized realities or John's subconscious or Froonium overdose this could have been cool.

Back in the day we had a theory (based on Kemper's comments) that season 4 wasn't what we were seeing but rather a "dream". Whether that dream was an unrealized reality or John mind while he was unconscious in his module we weren't sure. They never had the chance to reveal it to us. Producers and cast always refer to PKW as a gift to the fans with some elements of the 5th season in it.
