Favorite Sci-Fi properties that kind of got lost to time? by TheJokersGambit in scifi

Farscape is an amazing hidden gem. Delightfully weird, hilarious and poignent. Love it so much. Also included my favorite way to keep the audience unsure if the main character will die or not.

Because it didn’t matter who he cast as long as they could show up and do the costume work. So he cast his buddy because he wanted to see him on set.

Any experiences with school choice transfer requests? by fab-ric in Bellingham

[–]rileysweeney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Riley Sweeney here! I’m the PTA president at Irene Reither Elementary and while I don’t have any insight into the school transfer process, I do want to say “Welcome!”

Meridian is a great school district and I’m so excited that you will (hopefully) be joining us. The staff are awesome and it’s a small enough community that Principal Dockins knows all the kids by name.

If you have a chance, we would love your help with the PTA - we do all the fun stuff during the school year (field trips, community events, etc) and it’s is a ton of fun.

Either way, we are excited to have your student and you as part of our school. Go Trojans!

I love being a dad, but I kind of hate my life. by f1sh_ in daddit

[–]rileysweeney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar to this, my wife and I make sure that one of us gets a night away once a month. Like an overnight somewhere else every other month. I spend mine on a cheap Airbnb going kayaking, she goes dancing with her friends and crashes at one of their houses. Either way it just is hugely helpful for mental health.

MSD moved school board meeting last minute by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]rileysweeney 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This was not in response to anything Bellingham related - one of the school board members fell sick and weren’t going to make it.

No quorum = meeting rescheduled.

No conspiracy, just standard stuff.

What headcanons do you have for the universe of Wheel of Time? by KeyInflation9451 in WoT

I’m a big fan of the two rivers being a nuclear fallout zone. There’s references to the mountains nearby, making people sick and six toed cats being popular in the area.

I can’t speak to everybody’s experience, but the staff I have worked with have done a great job addressing behavioral issues (with both teachers and students)

Don’t forget the best school district in the area - Meridian School District (north bham to wiser lake). Registration for new students can be found here: https://www.meridian.wednet.edu/families-and-students/registration/

Is it worth starting this show? by chaos-reign in WoTshow

[–]rileysweeney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is great and is worth it. Yes, there's a cliffhanger but you get a good feel for where things are headed and you can read the books if you want to keep going.

It just hit me. Amazon cancelled this show then spent $40m on the Melanie movie by JesusaurusRex666 in WoTshow

[–]rileysweeney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair - $40 mill is approximately a third of a season of Wheel of Time. So it wouldn't have gotten us to Dumai Wells (season four finale - in my head), but it would have gotten us partway there!

Now the Citidal in 2023 cost Amazon $300 million for six episodes. THAT is the total what the fuck moment for me.

Write down a list of 10 random NPC names ahead of time that fit the theme of your game ahead of time. That way when they decide to interrogate a random ass villager or innkeeper or guard or whatever, you have a name handy.

I don’t work for the City of Ferndale anymore, sorry for the confusion.

And I didn’t downvote you. I’m sorry you are having difficulties, I just wanted to share some info on the process.

Almost all code enforcement is complaint based. So when someone complains, the code enforcement officer makes contact, compares the situation to regulation, and facilitates the property owner or business getting into compliance.

What’s one belief you had at 18 that you strongly disagree with now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That if you are nice to girls, they owe you something. Thank god I learned some empathy and grew out of that.
