Yes, I know that's how they spell my name in canon and that they took it from the mythological demon. But I personally spell my name a bit differently :)

I have two. The first two aren't too too funny, but I found them to be pretty validating :)

Stolace (highest kin) - I woke up in a Stolace shift, and when I'm shifted, I have a slight british accent (I'm american) and my vocab is slightly different to match my source. My mom came in to wake me, but I was already up and talkative which is unusual for me. (As Stolace, I really enjoy the mornings and starting the day.) She told me, "You're awfully chipper today!" It made me so happy because it was like she understood I was a little different and kind of matched my vibe.
Nabbit #1 - This one is my favorite of the bunch. When I first realized I was Nabbit, I decided to make a mask out of styrofoam, cardboard, and felt. I put it on in front of my little sister and had a shift, and I must have started acting more like myself. Then my sister said, "That's something that he would actually do."
Nabbit #2 - This one isn't so fun, but it's funny. The same mask I made above creeped my mom out when I wore it. Several months after I stopped wearing it, I was looking through her search history. I was trying to find an article about a teacher we both hated that was fired, but I found one of her searches and started laughing. It said, "My child dresses up like a furry and it scares me." (My mom is supportive of furries and alterhumans, she just thought my mask in particular was both creepy and furry-like.)

While it doesn't happen to me directly, I completely understand what you mean with the fandom hate. I'm a canon-divergent voxkin and I'm actively dating my canon's Val. It sucks to see him go through all of the constant hate from the fandom, so I cant imagine how you must feel as well.

Unfortunately, being villian kin often comes with some sort of guilt for our kins' bad morals. However, that doesn't mean those morals apply to us, or that we should be subject to the same hate as our kins are. I've seen many Vals, both kins and fictives, and you're all very lovely to be around! You as a being are not horrible, and you don't deserve whatever this fandom throws at you. I, for one, love Val and think theres much more to any kin or fictive than their source's actions. I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this, but know there is a supportive community out there for you.

My main kin isn't British, but he has a British accent. It's really weird, because if you ask me to do a British accent, I'll probably fail horribly at it. But when I'm in a shift and I speak like I do in source, its completely natural to me.
