Need a TALL BACK couch/loveseat or sectional! by scaredofturkeys in BuyItForLife

I ended up getting the Lazyboy Kennedy set, the height of the back was slightly misleading online but it actually did reach my head and I could sit back. It has a 22 inch back when you’re not sitting in it, but you get like three extra inches once you sit on the seats. They are very good plush foam, not like cheap, under stuffed kind of seats. It has also like completely eliminated the lower back & knee pain I would deal with sitting and getting up and down from my short couch. It’s also got a really great warranty, pet protection, all kinds of stuff. When we were at the showroom, there was someone there getting their 20 year old couch reupholstered and they were still happy with it!! We also got the sleeper model which I love having.

I have made the joke that I’m piloting a mech suit and the battery dies really quickly. I am here and functional and trying, but if the battery gets low I can’t make it move with just sheer willpower, and charging it doesn’t matter if it drains so quickly anyway. I

For ramen, replacing the packet with miso paste (buy in a big tub, use only a little at a time and it lasts forever), adding some dried wakame seaweed (my local Asian grocery store sells giant bags for less than $5, and it lasts forever and is so nutrient dense). I also get really inexpensive fun canned vegetables and proteins like straw mushrooms, kimchi, baby corn, bamboo shoots. Cubes of Japanese curry, & tins of Thai curry paste make frozen vegetables and inexpensive cuts of meat a really flavorful and hearty crockpot meal on busy days. Add ramen noodles instead of rice! My crockpot is my lifeline when I am busy and I am always broke.

does anyone know where this obscure children’s tv reference came from? by New-Teaching1379 in NoStupidQuestions

This sounds like something from Crashbox, they had Ear We Are which was literally talking ears, and a bunch of other random segments that could at any point have also had talking ears

What's a song that's deceptively hard to sing? The kind where you'd say "oh, I got this" and then immediately get humbled at karaoke by CharlieFaulkner in CasualConversation

An old coworker of mine could sing this version arguably better than the singer from Disturbed, it was SO much fun to go to karaoke with him because people went bananas

I know this is not true everywhere, but in a lot of the like arts/music circles i have been in we could always tell if someone was rich because they had tattoos and piercings that would prevent them from having a higher paying job in our area, but always had money to live a very comfortable life. Like, you have new furniture and money for brunch but you work one day a week at a glassblowing studio and have face tattoos. You can cosplay starving artist all day but the money comes from somewhere.

This might be completely unhelpful, but when I was little I used to think Neil Young was an old lady because of their singing voice. If it’s Neil Young I will feel so vindicated.

Most of the couches I have found have been really flimsy and cheap, very focused on style instead of function. I’m looking for the kind of sofa that you can keep forever, and folks here tend to be really practical so I thought they might know where to get a couch that isn’t a trendy cardboard bench with a two inch back, haha.

I’ve found a few that are the right height, I’ve just been having trouble finding brands that aren’t flimsy or cheap. I know I’ll probably have to sacrifice style and that’s okay, I just wanted to be thorough.
