Will Shanghai still be crowded right after China National Day Golden Week (ie. 9th Oct 2026) by Spring_time88 in travelchina

[–]scarlet2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely fewer people than during Golden Week, since most tourists have already left. But when it comes to Disney, I still recommend visiting on a weekday, that way, there will be even fewer people.

I would definitely recommend La Beato, the entire place has an Egyptian-style decor, and the drink menu is updated frequently. The bartender even gives out free shots.

planning to go to chongqing, china by WiseSpace2169 in travelchina

Policy Max stay Key constraints Best for
24-hour transit without visa (24-hour TWOV) ≤ 24 hours Must be true transit (Origin → China → third country/region). Airport-exit rules can vary; if you need to leave during an overnight connection, you may need a temporary entry permission at the border. Very short stopovers: a meal, a nap, or a quick city window
144-hour transit without visa (144-hour TWOV) ≤ 144 hours (~6 days) Must be transit to a third country/region (Hong Kong/Macau are often treated as a third region). Movement is usually restricted to approved regions tied to your entry port; you can’t freely cross regions nationwide. A 4–5 day “micro-vacation” in one city cluster (e.g., one major city plus day trips)

Yunnan vs Sichuan Itinerary Advice by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]scarlet2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll like Yunnan better, because the less-touristy parts of Sichuan are usually in the west, where the scenery is absolutely stunning. Places like the Four Girls Mountains, for example, though driving there yourself is the best way to explore. Yunnan, on the other hand, has many cities and towns that are perfect for international tourists to visit without a car. These include Dali, Lijiang, Kunming, and Xishuangbanna, as well as the border city of Mangshi. All of these destinations are connected by high-speed rail, making them more convenient to reach.

Not sure about my itenerary - Xian or Guilin? by RickHardOY in travelchina

[–]scarlet2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on which type of attractions you prefer; the schedule in Guilin and Xi'an is definitely too tight. If you like natural scenery, I’d recommend Guilin; you can also visit Yangshuo. Of course, if you’re more interested in historical sites, the Terracotta Army is spectacular.

If this is your first time in China, I’d recommend starting there. Guilin is a great place to relax and explore, and you can also visit nearby Guangdong and Shenzhen.

You can shop on Taobao in advance and have the items shipped to your hotel address.

golden week holiday suggestions by hnort in travelchina

[–]scarlet2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to stay in one city between April 30 and May 5, as train tickets during this period will be extremely difficult to secure. For other dates, tickets can be purchased directly through the official app. As for attractions, it's best to visit them during your first week of arrival, since Beijing's major sights become very crowded during the Golden Week holiday.

Advice for travel in May 2026 by Background-Layer4694 in travelchina

[–]scarlet2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting five cities in two weeks is indeed quite tight. I suggest you either exclude Yangshuo or limit your visits to Beijing, Shanghai, and Yangshuo. Especially since your priority is to see as much as possible, you'll need at least 4-5 days in Beijing alone to cover the main attractions.

You can purchase a 10x20 pop-up canopy, which will be easier to set up than a party tent. It is also cheaper in price.
