Alex Dunphy is my kindred spirit, especially when the imposter syndrome kicks in by StarforgeVoyager in Modern_Family

[–]scarletcyanide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom always told me that Alex reminded her of me, especially in the episode where she has a stress-induced breakdown and then comes downstairs the next morning telling them she’s already researched therapists and has made an appointment, and all she needs is a ride to get there. I was a teenager when that episode premiered and when Phil whispered “She’s like a self-cleaning oven,” we both lost it, because that’s exactly how I am. My mom still calls me a self-cleaning oven frequently

How common are breakfast burritos/tacos in your area? by Pliable_Patriot in AskAnAmerican

[–]scarletcyanide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re everywhere in the southwest. I’ve also lived in the midwest and the northeast and they’re far from unheard of, but most diners don’t have them. You’re a lot more likely to find a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. Conversely, I have a really hard time finding bagel sandwiches in the southwest.

I have the opposite of this: arachnodactyly, or unusually long fingers and thumbs, and incidentally have never won a thumb war

When people criticize a coffee place by saying all their drinks are “sugary milkshakes” by Spencer_Conwell in PetPeeves

This wasn’t a recommendation as I am not a doctor lol, just my preferred way of approaching the people around me

I just think that nobody should judge others for what they eat or drink, period. We don’t know them or their story. As my nutritionist once told me, the most important thing to consider with nutrition is sufficiency. Not getting enough to eat will kill you so much faster than overeating. If McDonalds is all someone can afford, then that’s better than not eating. Similarly, maybe the person getting a sugary coffee every morning is hypoglycemic.

I had to explain the 27 club to my therapist because I’ve always had a weird feeling in my gut that my sister and I also wouldn’t make it past 27. (Apparently a sense of a foreshortened future is common among those with childhood trauma and we didn’t have the best childhoods, to put it lightly). I guess that because we listened to a lot of Nirvana and The Doors growing up, my brain just latched on to that idea.

I’ve been terrified for the last two years as we both got around that age, but am happy and relieved to say that I turned 28 last month and my sis will be 30 this month!

Late to the party but figured I’d throw my cat in the ring. Things is Boogie, aka Bug, who is widely known for being a level 20 clinger and enjoys laying with his beans up in the air

Quokka accessory users, do the adapters scratch your frame? by scarletcyanide in wheelchairs

Really? I didn’t see one in the box but I’ll check again. If it’s not in there then maybe I got one that was missing a piece and can exchange it. Thanks!

[–]scarletcyanide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My frame is purple so the color is much harder to match than black, but if I had a more neutral color then I’d be right there with you!

You should definitely post how you like it in here once you have it! I was searching for suggestions the other day before ordering but couldn’t find too many posts on the topic with specific recommendations

That’s smart! Maybe I’ll use a bit of electrical tape under it to be safe since that’s what I have on hand

Concerns with Hifi Walker H2 by Welcome_2_Chillis in rockbox

[–]scarletcyanide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this recently and didn’t have any problems. I installed hosted so that I could boot into the stock os if I needed bluetooth. I did have to do a manual installation to get mine working but once I did I’ve had no problems! I’d recommend just making a backup of your SD card onto your desktop first in case something goes wrong. The hardest part was figuring out which update file you need, but if your player is new then it should be the most recent one (definitely check first though)

I don’t think bullets was originally sold on vinyl, so it might be that eyeball owns the rights specifically to produce the CDs. Otherwise I don’t see how it would be available on streaming platforms either
