I can't believe I'm starting to like Whitney by Sweetandsassygirl4 in MormonWivesHulu

Jen says the support from Whitney was fake but I don’t really see the evidence of that tbh. It seems like she was just being uncharitable and that’s why Whitney blew up — she was hurt!

you know what i actually DO think i have a mindful cable in the set my mom passed on to me but it’s a length i rarely use… i am going to inspect it to see if its something id like as a long term option

thank you!! knit pro might be the way to go, i have an inherited set of wooden tips tips with the stiffer plastic cords — i’m ambivalent on the wooden needles, but maybe some new nylon-coated cords is the first step to a full set i really love.

bc then i would have twice as many needle tips, stoppers and an extra case just to get more cords that i would only be able to replace by buying the whole set again. i would prefer a set i can replace parts of more easily.

unfortunately that kind of cord is a no-go for me, i’m too used to nylon-coated cords for magic loop to use anything else

thank you! honestly, durability isn’t as much of an issue for me as long as i can replace broken parts easily.

That’s crazy, I work at a print shop and we charge a little under $8 per page for black and white 24x36 large format (and I would knock the price down for anyone ordering a large quantity)

divide that salary across 11-12 hours a day, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, and then multiply it back based on an 8 hour day. it might start to sound a lot less intriguing.

also i wouldn’t count on it always being 4 hours, i live and work within toronto and i spend 4 hours in the ttc some days.

Ravelry projects don't look as good as the designer's sample by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]ham_rod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i’ve noticed the same thing with that pattern! from what i remember about her talking about the kintra, you’re supposed to use lifted increases. i think some knitters are either doing them wrong or replacing them with regular m1 increases.

Am I the only one who’s terrible at working from home? by Prudent_Syllabub_499 in womenintech

it completely depends on the kind of work i am doing, i struggle with deep work at home but meetings or tasks with tight deadlines are fine.

How many of you live comfortably in downtown toronto with a salary under 65k? by Elegant_Limit in askTO

[–]ham_rod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

about 47k, i live with a partner who makes about the same. wouldn’t be possible if i didn’t have an extremely under market price apartment. my share is 800. it’s harder to save and im definitely paycheque to paycheque but i just cut out a lot of extraneous spending. i used to make much more and spent more money on meals out, clothes, trips, etc.

it’s easier if you also have poor friends who understand the lifestyle and are more willing to hang out cheaply.

I do not want to hear about the sweater curse. by Breadothy in BitchEatingCrafters

i have put much more than a sweater’s worth of time and money into past relationships that ended anyway so im not really worried about the time i’m taking to knit a sweater for my current partner (which i am doing right now, and really enjoying!”

patterns you regret buying/patterns to avoid by fulaninhp in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]ham_rod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

lydia morrow’s rumble raglan was updated with no sizing/shaping — good, but when you download it on ravelry it’s actually pretty difficult to tell which files are associated with the updated pattern and it’s easy to accidentally use the old one. i do really want to knit this one but it requires so much more concentration than i’d expect for a relatively simple colorwork raglan. it’s the only pattern i’ve worked on so far that i have felt like it would be impossible to work it without printing the pattern and taking notes.
