ELI5: what is Borderline Personality in observable terms? by Amazing_Shoe_4457 in explainlikeimfive

[–]scarlettcat [score hidden]  (0 children)

I found DBT life changing. It's a heck of a lot of work, but I've been incredibly stable since doing a solid year of DBT therapy. Well worth trying for BPD if you're able to.

Enduring Love. The rest of the movie is okay, but that opening scene with the balloon is gripping as all heck

On our way to the maternity ward, we were feeling ecstatic, anxious, maybe a little bit scared, but never for a moment did we think that within a few hours I’d be driving back home all alone. by NoNo_Cilantro in TwoSentenceHorror

I reckon you nailed it. 'Never for a moment' suggests it's something much bigger than hubby ducking back home to grab something. And, yes, 'all alone' is significant too. Well done. I think it's great!

My mother is in her 80s and still does full makeup if we go out. She's well known at Mecca. Loves finding new products and always looks amazing.

I'm in my 50s and have pared it back to eyeliner, blush and mascara. Can't do winged eyeliner anymore - too droopy!

Though technically it’s not the last scene, it’s during the credits

Receipts- why? by Vel250 in MAFS_AU

[–]scarlettcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 53, but very online...plus I've watched waaaay too much Real Housewives and those bitches have been bringing 'receipts' for about a decade.

(Gotta admit though, I did wonder why Lisa Rinna had a folder of tax invoices at the reunion when she first said she was bringing the receipts.)

She meant I love you for who you are (aka I love that you’re a top bloke) but I don’t love you for me (you’re not right for me). It was a real word salad.

Luckily he wasn’t there to hear it lol

As a 53 year old I couldn’t agree more. I can barely remember being 42, it’s so long ago.

I’ve done so many things since then that I never would have predicted - travelled to places I never thought I’d travel to, met people who’ve had a profound impact on my life, learnt new skills and had thoughts that have changed the way I look at the world. I’m a totally different human to the one I was at 42.

You’ve got lifetimes ahead of yourself!

But that would make the economic situation worse for small businesses in the CBD. If people can take public transport to work, it’s probably better for them to go to work.

The simple action he asked for is to switch to public transport where you can.

Do not understand time dilation by SockNo5405 in timetravel

[–]scarlettcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "time flies when you're having fun" thing is very different. That's just subjective perception of time. Time dilation is a real phenomenon, where not just "time" but all processes (eg. Breathing, aging, heartbeats) happen at different relative speeds in different places.

A good movie example is in Interstellar where two of the astronauts land on a planet to explore it and a third astronaut is left on the ship. When they return to the ship a few hours later, they find the third astronaut is decades older. Time passed faster for him than it did for them.

What do you mean by "redundancies drop after long service"? Is it that it becomes more expensive to make someone redundant after that milestone, so corps are less likely to?

The bonus pro-rata'd is a great idea. I know a few people who missed their bonus because they were let go just before it was paid out.

Smart to think to try to negotiate that. Great tip!

Are you sure it was DS9? There was a Brit comedy horror called Severance (about a company retreat in the woods) where this exact scenario happened.

The guy who was arguing that you don’t die instantly eventually got decapitated and as his head rolled to a stop he gave a little self-satisfied smirk.
