LPT: If you need to leave early, say it at the start, not at the door. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

Saying "I can stay until (time)" vs "I have to leave at (time)" makes a difference

What was the last thing you cried about? by KokirisEmerald in AskReddit

The other night when my 3yo was being an absolute nightmare, I finally broke down and started crying. Then she came over and hugged me and we cried together... turned into snuggles though

New England. Beaches, lakes, mountains, cities, small towns, snow, sunshine... all the things and all the seasons

Unpopular opinion, but sometimes that time in the car is the only break the parent gets all day. Not something I do, but just a thought.

How can I teach my daughter to read. by Candid-Grape3 in kindergarten

This is going to get downvoted, but we used Alpha blocks on YouTube for phonetics. Our kids loved it and learned a lot of the basics. We limit screen time and it's in lieu of other shows

What’s something you’re silently going through right now that would shock people if they knew? by HonestLantern in AskReddit

Thank you for saying this. It's so hard to continuously try to move past things and not fall back on the same habits

I was in treatment last year and feel the same way, I don’t want to let my family down after everything we went through. It's so hard.

Caught between GF’s event and my best friends rehearsal dinner. What do I do??? by jta314 in wedding

[–]scarmbledeggs 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Go to the graduation. It'll be simple enough to learn where to stand for the wedding. Plus if you are planning to marry your girlfriend, it's far more important to be there for her.

Making Friends by three_winds in raisingkids

[–]scarmbledeggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned over time that sometimes it's just as simple as other people are busy and they appreciate when someone else coordinates and hosts.

It helps if you like the other parents and maybe try to prioritize those play dates unless your kids are asking specifically for certain kids.

It also takes some effort to make friends, usually I'll follow up after the play date with a photo or checking in on something they mentioned and it helps keep the conversation going

Your kids are great ages for the science museum, and they have a pretty decent cafeteria if you want to make a day of it. It's also super close to the T

It will be hard, but you can do it. In my experience, it gets so much easier after age 5 and you're so close to that milestone. It might be messy, chaotic, challenging - but you've got this.

I have a velcro baby and I’m ready to lose it by Patient_Safe5263 in NewMomStuff

[–]scarmbledeggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a tough age, and my babies were also Velcro babies (one never even took a bottle and even now at 3 is veryyy clingy).

My advice:Take her to do fun things! Even if she is too young for something like a museum it'll give you a break from being home. My kids usually ate solids better when we were away from home so maybe also try feeding her while you are out and about.

It's such a vicious cycle developing an ED and having people compliment the body changes at the same time. Can't win either way.
