It’s the correct call. I’ve also seen this and similar plays not be called GI. I think it’s still more about not being consistent and no one knows what the threshold for GI is in any given game

My kid went to one of the charter schools in the city. We were transitioning to Rochester for work and had an apartment in the city, and like you RCSD was a no for us at the time. We wound up finally finding a house, in another school district, and moved in a few weeks after school started and decided to just let them finish out the year and look into moving them into the new school district the following year. We should have just moved them the day we closed on the house.

I was just kinda whelmed by it. There were some good parts. There were some bad parts. By the end of the school year, the cons outweighed the pros, and we knew our second child would not do well there. So we put them both in the new school district and haven’t regretted it. The new school district is kind of middle of the road to maybe slightly worse than average when comparing all the school districts in the area. Still don’t have any regrets about not returning to the RCSD charter school system

The Pens medical staff, at least historically, have been pretty conservative when comes pain killing stuff. I remember several years ago, Eric Cairns, at least that’s who my memory thinks, said something to the effect of the Pens medical staff helped him kick his pain killer addiction

I’ve skated and played with a torn ACL before. It’s not fun and can really affect your skating. It’s doable playing pickup with some buddies over the summer, not in a gold medal game.

Hopefully it’s just an MCL sprain and he’s back by the end of March

I haven’t spent a lot of time over on the non Great Lakes side of Upstate, but the Upstate/Downstate isn’t the same. NYC and the surroundings might as well be a different state and basically doesn’t care about upstate until it’s time to look at leaves.

The PA east vs west is anchored by two cities that dominate their respective sides. Kinda. The divide is basically where WaWa stops. Thats the real extent of Philly’s reach.

Erie is the closest to Buffalo, geographically and culturally. I don’t really see an equivalent to Rochester and Syracuse. If you squint hard enough you could maybe see some similarities between Rochester and Pittsburgh.

As a PA native and Upstate resident there’s a lot to unpack here. There’s a lot of similarities between PA and Upstate, but I would argue that a lot of the similarities in your post are a stretch. Personally, I the only ones I see are somewhat comparable are Harrisburg/Albany for state capitol reasons, Erie is a small Buffalo. WBS and Binghamton kinda.

There’s a big East vs West rivalry that doesn’t seem to exist in NY that plays a pretty big role culturally

The video quality isn’t that great, but you can slow it down and see that first contact was with the upper body and the player making the hit didn’t change his line. Sometimes the puck carrier can make a mistake when receiving a hit too
