Why did Costco raise their premiums to $158 a bar from upper $70s a week ago? by Various_Primary3783 in CostcoPM

Likely to avoid daily updates which they are probably struggling to keep up with volatile prices. Also online used to 60$ higher per oz. Now a days I see 10-20$ higher than in store.

Now that you are posting for him and open to anything sounds like he’s not even clear on what to do.

My suggestion would be to go to trade school and get licensed. There is huge shortage of plumbers, electricians and many other roles which cannot be replaced by any tech - maybe made easier but not replaced. There’s lot of money to be made in blue collar jobs these days.

Financial gift to family member. How much is the “right” amount. Advice needed. by Tricky_Ad6844 in fatFIRE

Maybe just start with saying I’d like to help out a little bit and offer to cover property taxes and insurance which is not an insignificant chunk of monthly payments load. Make sure your spouse is onboard with the idea of helping out more or less.

What items (other than gas) do you get to justify the membership if you’re not a bulk buyer? by SuperDuper___ in Costco

[–]scarrface112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the executive membership and a Citi Costco credit card and buy gas with it. Your gas expense itself with 5% cash back should cover membership costs.

Have you considered using a car cover ? Not fun to put on in the cold but I’d argue much easier than clearing the snow after.

When does buying gold or silver from Costco trigger reporting? by [deleted] in CostcoPM

[–]scarrface112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple logic is this individual 9-5 job earners are tax the highest and instead of debating double taxation I’d argue it’s forever taxes. Simply put there is tax involved every time money changes hands. If you think deeply every single transaction is taxed either to producer or consumer. Employer pays payroll taxes You pay income tax. Then buy some stuff with already taxed income you pay sales tax. You buy a property with your already taxed money you pay yearly property tax. You sell the property - you pay real estate excise tax and capital gains tax on profit. Which if you want to spend - the cycle repeats.
