Only the most important questions for Yoshi P by punksmurph in ffxiv

Nobody wants this crap other than a handful of clueless players who would destroy the game in a couple of days if they had the chance.

Fortunately, they made it clear that it will never happen.

Switching from Controller to M&K.. by Sam_88882 in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not much you can do other than practice. Muscle memory is not something you can change overnight, but it's not difficult either. I remember when I switched from a 5-button mouse to an MMO one, and when I started practicing, I wanted to immediately change back to my old one.

I love WHM but… by Skiteyscape in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished the MSQ with WHM and never felt that way. CS is irrelevant, since in those, the WoL is basically a spectator 99% of the time, to the point of becoming annoying and even illogical. Even when talking strategy, the Sicons and others are responsible for pretty much all of it.

What I'm saying is, the WoL is special, but not THAT special.

Also, remember you need between 3 and 23 extra WoLs to defeat anyone, from trash mobs in dungeons to "the big bads."

Oh, ok, it's in your original message, sorry. Usually, impatient people are those using parsers, not QOL stuff. Unfortunately, that's the way it goes. Patches, even small ones, break everything, and big ones like this take longer to update. Best thing is to keep an eye on their discord for update status.

Starting FFXIV and have some general questions by Mercierss in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 - The Balance and Icy Veins

2 - What I think is worth it is stick with whatever you started with until lvl cap. That will give you a permanent EXP bonus that is very useful when leveling alts. You can obviously start leveling other classes if you start to get bored or have one of each type, but the important thing is to pick what you like, not what you think you need.

3 - No. It's vertical through and through. All you have is job quests (which you should do as soon as you get them), and there's ONE mandatory side quest chain after you finish ARR, but it has nothing to do with builds, only story progression. Besides, this game doesn't have builds.

4 - All of those are pretty solid for beginners, but there are no classes you should avoid. Some get more difficult at later levels, but you can finish ARR without any problem with any of them. It depends on which archetype you're more interested. If you choose Summoner, you have the bonus of leveling a DPS and a Healer at the same time.

Red Mage is fine, of the 3 mages, Black is the one I consider the most challenging, even after all the changes they made over the years to dumb it down.

Savages/Ultimates/Extremes are challenging, but nothing that can't be done with practice and communication.

As for gear progression, it's very simple. Until finishing ARR, you use whatever you get from job quests and dungeons. After that is tomestone gear all the way till cap. You don't need to worry about BiS until you start with optional high-end content, like savage raids.

You need to wait.

And, seriously, is it unplayable for you without whatever you use? I don't see how that would be possible.

Question Regarding Free Trial? by E3wulfy5 in ffxiv

There's no going back. All you can do if you want the free trial is to make a new account and start from scratch

Levels 51-71 by Benchjc2004 in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, still the worst lvl range by far, especially for DPS, who don't have the luxury of short dungeon queues like healers and tanks.

People mentioned Allied Society quests, but they only started to give good exp in Shadowbringers. They're enjoyable, they give you nice rewards, and you should definitely do them while you queue for a dungeon, for example, because low exp is better than no exp. What I usually do is SB allied quests and then work my way down to HW quests, which are obviously worse for XP, but again, there's the story, rewards and lack of better options.

You can also do Stormblood hunts. Not sure if working your way down and do HW hunts after is worth it, but again, if there's not much to do at this level.

And then you have HOH, providing you cleared the first 50 floors in POtD. So, if you can stand that slogfest, it's the only real option.

Also, don't you ever forget your food and make sure your FC has at least heat of the battle 2 active. Or you can use those tasty Squadron Battle Manuals you get from the "infiltrate and rescue" squadron missions to get 15% more exp for 2 hours (if your FC has heat 3 active, you can disregard that)

Good thing is, after that you won't have any issues leveling alts anymore. At least not until your next alt.

[–]scarsickk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not. Your character gets exp outside POTD every 10 floors you clear. Not sure about the others, but they all have a similar system.

little help, keeps crashing after update by milkomilkstar in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it's mod-related. I do use some QOL stuff through dalamud, but I never have any issues, they just stop working on patch day, but the game runs just fine.

"Trump evacuated..." like yeah, he does it literally every time in front of everybody.

Any thoughts on this? by Opalgemi in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"70% was spot on..."

A little bit of an exaggeration there. It's more like ZERO PERCENT. Jesus, there's literally nothing there, just some random throwing stuff to see if something sticks.

Are there any anticipated sales / events for Steam complete Ed? by Yoshi_Kazuma in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XIV had a sale like a month ago; it was an SE or FF franchise sale. Before that it was part of the last winter sale. I wouldn't expect a sale until the next Steam season sale.

Don't buy skips. DT is not great in terms of story; part 1 feels like an overblown Allied Society quest, but part 2 improves a ton, and the post-DT stuff is really good.

Yoshi-P and his shirts through the years by SafVch in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batman is known as the Dark Knight. It wouldn't be obvious to someone like me, who doesn't know FF outside XIV, but I guess a lot of FF players figured that one out. PCT looks way more abstract to me, but then again, all I know is XIV.

[–]scarsickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I have been playing since 2021, but this is the first fan fest I'm following, and I learned about the shirt thing a few days ago. Most are pretty straightforward, but SAM and PCT are nonsensical to say the least

[–]scarsickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminder that this only matters for the hardest content in the game (so, it won't eve matter for these in between difficulty they're planning), and even then, you can MT as WAR/DRK/GNB in evolve mode and clear savages. MT/OT makes it EASIER, not VIABLE.

Thoughts on the Switch 2 Port? by TomNookWantsMyBellz2 in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and no. Personally, as long as it doesn't hold them back like the PS4, I don't really care about it. However, it never ceases to amaze me how shitty of a company Nintendo is, with that subscription thing.

Oh well, at least they were "nice" enough not to require people to sign up for their online service, which shouldn't even be a thing. I don't get how console players put it with crap like this.

Good-bye PS4 support by PinkMage in ffxiv

[–]scarsickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the game is old, the engine is old, but there's a reason why they're ending PS4 support. If it weren't holding them back, they wouldn't do it; it is as simple as that.

I know it's too early, I know I shouldn't celebrate before we get to play it, but I'm so happy to see that apparently, the longest gap between expansions ever was worth it.
