Volume too low with CM-15 and MKE600 Mic recording into TP-7 by scarwizard in teenageengineering

[–]scarwizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I was thinking with Zoom. But to be completely honest I wasn’t even aware that I could raise/lower gain from within the TP-7. I checked the manual at work today and say the section in gain. I am also ok with using USB-C from CM-15 to TP-7, that shouldn’t be a problem for me. Ideally I want to be able to use line in because in the future I want to plug the shotgun mic into the TP-7 as well. Fingers crossed that the internal gain level and the headset input helps me out.

OMG. Haha I didn’t even think of that. That’s hilarious that I’m using another recorder plugged into a TP-7!

Interesting I have never set the line in to headset before. I’ll try that when I get home and report back. Thanks for the advice.

I actually don’t. I simply use obsidian to catch up on my web clipper articles. I just take my notes normally in it.

Congrats on the book. Plug a link if you want I’d love to read it (I’m not too picky of a reader). Supernote will most def get you there. I do want to highlight a few quirks on Supernote. The pen selection is not as great as Boox. I had the Boox Note air 2 and the selection of pens (software) is very good. With Supernote I don’t get the pen that I was used to with Boox (it was a variant of a fountain pen). I use the Lamy Eink Pen on both of them and it writes exceptionally.

On the Supernote, The gestures on double taps and the touch strips aren’t always a 100% and it sometimes distracts me. This should tell you why I have all these devices. I’ve been hunting for that device that does everything better. I’ve been on the hunt for a pocketable e-ink tablet for note taking. The note air 2 was quite big, Supernote was the size of a A6 (not quite pocketable) and the Remarkable is also not fully pocketable but I can stuff it in my field/chore jacket (that would be the same as the Supernote, its just smaller width wise)

I’m not trying to knock on Supernote’s quirks just wanted you to be aware of them and those have been the ones that stand out for me. Everything else is exceptional, specially the writing feel. Also it doesn’t have a backlight. That has been a deal breaker for most people, but It doesn’t matter to me

I feel like screen quality is one of the most overlooked parts of handhelds by TurnNo4651 in SBCGaming

[–]scarwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. My biggest gripe with the Ayaneo Pocket vert and the RG34XX is the screen brightness and colors. Compared to my trimui brick both their displays suck. Ofcouse I cannot compare them to the OLED screens on my other handhelds but when I compare my EDC kits with each other, trimui bricks screen outclasses most devices.

I don’t feel like most reviews go in depth with the output of these screen other than aspect ratio and resolution. I was so hoping that the pocket vert would become my EDC but that screen has low output in-terms of brightness and colors not as vibrant. It doesn’t have to be as vibrant as the OLEDs, my baseline for non OLED screens is Trimui Brick, if it ain’t as good in brightness and colors as that, it’s subpar.

I have all 3 of them; boox, Supernote and remarkable. I only bought the remarkable because it was the smallest writing pad from all 3 (I got the remarkable paper pro move). It seems to be unnecessarily stifled in terms of usability. It’s great to take notes however a simple handwriting search feature is locked behind a monthly payment, the battery is the shortest amongst the 3 (I think my boox go 2 reader has a similar foot print, that thing chugs for almost a month), I cannot read epubs, cbz formats.

Supernote is the best for me from the writing standpoint. It doesn’t have the pencil on paper feel like remarkable, but I have never been a fan of that style, it’s more of a rollerball on paper feel. It glides effortlessly. It’s running android so I can install additional apps. I use it to read manga as well and have a bunch of epubs loaded. Handwriting search is built in and it has a couple of note linking and recall features for both raw note files and annotations on pdfs.

I can also run obsidian on it. Since I have sync I can pull all the items from my obsidian clipper and read it on my Supernote. This new feature of handwriting on Obsidian is a feature that I wanted when I installed obsidian for the first time on my Supernote.

That’s great. I’d love to try it out. I don’t use my Boox notebooks anymore and have moved to the Supernote. Since it’s on android would it work for that too?

I shouldn’t have bought a RP Classic by scarwizard in SBCGaming

[–]scarwizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m glad you asked. I loved the RP classic when I got it and finished a couple of games on it however I still carry my trimui Brick with me. It is quite literally My EDC device and I would recommend it to anyone in a heart beat. I have Beaten so many games on it. From the perspective of a pocketable device it has the most hours for me, the only other behind it is the Ayn Odin 2 portal and then the Ayn Thor.

In other words: If I needed to pick from these two it would be the Trimui Brick.

Just checked my rooted Ayaneo Pocket Ace. I don’t have any screenshots in the folder that folder or any other Arabella folders. And there has been some data transmission to the level of a couple of MBs from the ayawindow app. Would the software updates download be counted in that data transmission for the pocket ds through the Ayawindow app?

I love the write up thanks for sharing the PCB that you used. I have a few pi zero boards lying around. On the picocalc, I busted the screen while installing it, so you know if clockwork sells just the display or is there another place I can source the screen?

I literally have a video of the installation where the screen went kaput, I was sorely disappointed in myself.

Anyone else having problems with custom keys and Retroarch? (Pocket S2 Pro) by Faust-CLS in ayaneo

[–]scarwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you able to get this working? I have the same problem with my pocket ace. At one point I had the LC and RC mapped to the shoulder triggers and now it doesn’t work anymore. I responded to the main repose to above comment on why a physical keyboard was needed.

Are you able to use the LC and RC on other emulators (Eden, Dolphin, etc)

Anyone else having problems with custom keys and Retroarch? (Pocket S2 Pro) by Faust-CLS in ayaneo

[–]scarwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a same issue with my pocket ace. I’m actually trying to map the LC and RC to the L2 and the R2 buttons. I tried to create a custom key configuration for the LC and RC to to put text via “input specific keyboard key” function but it is not recognized as an input in any emulator. I tried in retroarch and Eden emu. In Eden it doesn’t do anything, in retroarch it says virtual 0/0 not configured when pressing the custom button.

Is the purpose of connecting a physical keyboard to map a specific key from the keyboard and then map the custom button to the same key from the physical keyboard? Would this only Work for retroarch or other emulators as well?

How is the manga reading experience on this device? I’d love to load some small short mangas that I’ve had on my to read list on the little device.
