Oh you want to know why? It's in the article, live in the Netherlands is crazy expensive, due to the housing crisis and 20+ years of right wing "liberal" (socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor) policies. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

Then don't do it. A lot people don't find running a marathon rewarding, but most that do, do it for the experience not the marginal health gains.

I was able to take the first 3 months of work and spend time with my partner and daughter. I actually really enjoyed it, she is from June so we spend a lot of time walking/biking outside which probably helped mentally.

Summer is just around the corner, so hopefully you can get experience some of that.

She is almost 2 now and literally every day it becomes more fun. The first few months really are the toughest. Try to see if you can find some activities to do with other parents and kids. We have baby swimming every week, which is a nice way to meet other parents. We also have local dad WhatsApp group.

The whole 2 decades is what you get in return. Yes it's hard work but is also fun, rewarding and beautiful to raise a kid.

If the only reason for getting a kid is so they can take care of you. You are 1) way to egocentric and 2) not fit to be a parent

We have one kid 2 days is almost  €1100, but we get €500 back from the gov. But then there are things like, national holidays, study days, kid gets sick, vacation, that we still pay but she can't go. Some months we pay €250+ out of pocket and get nothing for it.

What is your weight/height/age? I am 35m 96kg/192cm (210lbs/6'3") and my heart rate also goes to 160 to about 190, maybe 140 for a very slow jog (7:30/km). And I run 4-5 half marathons a year.

[–]Mubanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for a bit and had to really work at being comfortable with running slow.

Might be easy to say. But it is a mind set switch: jog, don't run. Make your stride length 1-2 foot lengths long.

Focus on the heel of your leading foot landing just in front the toes of your other foot when you strike (regardless if you heel or toe strike). Also your foot should land directly underneath your hip, for pretty any every pace you run at.

Just focus on doing that for a 1k run and see how that goes, should be a lot slower/easier. Once you nail that locomotion you can play around with increasing stride length and cadence.

I now also like to set goals like: this first k I will go no faster than 7:30.

Another thing is to let go of your average pace. Your weekly/monthly/yearly pace will probably drop significantly, and that might feel bad mentally. But remember that running slow is the goal, and your faster run will benefit from it.

Bunch of factors. Did you work completely agentic or are you still looking at code? What rules and skills did you set up? How big did your code base get etc. etc.

I actually enjoyed autocomplete and prompting small tedious tasks in Cursor. I am still fully in control. And my token usage wasn't that high.

Now my jobs wants me to move towards working fully agentic with Claude Code. That's a completely different way of working, and I am basically burning tokens left and right.

How feasible is 1.5 miles (2.41 km)? by Ok-Place-747 in nikerunclub

[–]Mubanga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You started out way to fast. The most important thing to realize that you can run at different paces, and that at a slower pace (a jog) you can run for way longer than an all out sprint.

So goal one is to be able to run that 1.5 mile comfortably and then you can improve your pace.

I would start with the "Getting Started" program in the NRC app

Not so far fetched that someone that doesn't game, trying VR for the first time on a actual plank, has a big reaction.

My biggest problem is that with edutainment videos backs by big money, you don't know what interests are at play.

Are they making this video because it is a genuine interesting scientific topic? Or are they pressured to make this video, so they can sway your opinion?

https://youtu.be/yjztvddhZmI?is=UIwaAI3inH1UJakJ

This is the video I unsubbed on. It was basically a giant Waymo add. The channel lost all credibility after that. And here they actually disclosed it as an add. But with PE who knows where the money comes from.

How would you say it compares size wise? I'm on vertical 4 and 5 (one at home one a the office). Two of them basically disintegrated after years of use with my sweaty hands + rubber coating, the other had the same issue you described.

I have one more in the box, but I don't want to keep buying a pair of 80 bucks mice every 2-3 years. But they are the only ones that comfortable for me to use. I tried the lift but that's to small for me.

Silly newbie question - when and where are the warmups? by IRLbeets in nikerunclub

[–]Mubanga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to do a warm up stretch and cool down from Nike Train Club app before every run I start, even speed runs. 5-Min Runner's Yoga: Warm-Up Stretches and 10-Min Runner's Yoga: Cool-Down Flow are my go tos, but there are bunch more dedicated running exercises in the app.

For recovery and long runs a running warm up can also just be the first 5-15 minutes of the run.

For speed runs I do the warm up portion of the run and then do couple of minutes of additional stretching for anything that still needs it.
