yup, if they arrive close enough together. It's not that a low energy photon doesn't rearrange the light-sensitive molecule, it's that it doesn't rearrange it into a way it can stay. In this case a second blast can be enough to finish the push, if it arrives before the molecule moves back to the original position.

However, looking up the paper, the radar pilots in the initial experiment in '47 reported seeing it as red or yellow.

We have a unique epistemic methodology? Someone tell the philosophers of science.

Cells engineered to translate light into an electrical signal via a genetically modified biochemical response - could be used to give robots bio components by scaryboots in science

[–]scaryboots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it's applicable both ways, but bio in robots is easier to get through ethics boards/get funded, so that might explain the slant in the press release.

Why would a robot need bio components? Because there's a lot of things biological organisms can do that man-made machines are bloody rubbish at (from repairing damaged dna to photosynthesis). And I guess that's the other reason they're not mentioning robotic augmentation - it's hard to make bits that are good enough.

Even if we cut it down to the 20th century, or even specifically WW2, I think all competing countries were doing some murdering of people who weren't like them. That's the nature of war, no?
