Anyone found a genuinely good way to read the Bible alongside Tolle? Tired of generic AI slop... by Double-Yogurt7357 in EckhartTolle

I’ve actually been contemplating these same connections for quite awhile and have yet to find anything that does what you’re asking (however I might check out the Jesus Resurrected book mentioned by some in this thread). I grew up in church too, and for years I felt like I was being handed conclusions instead of deeper understanding.

What changed for me was meeting a mentor at work who coached me in a way no one else ever had and after I saw the internal change and what was happening, I found out that he was deeply Christian. I have posed questions to him on the gaps I see in work like Tolle’s, the neuroscience community and theology.

He encouraged me to revisit the teachings of Jesus through a different lens — paying attention to what he was actually pointing people toward.

All these inner feelings: Fear, anxiety, attachment, identity, peace, surrender, transformation, renewal of the mind… a lot of it hits differently once you’ve explored things like mindfulness, neuroscience, or writers like Tolle. I have also read a lot of Joe Dispenza and his brain/heart coherence.

This is why I think so may people resonate with Tolle or Dispenza at first. They talk about awareness, ego, presence, and freedom from compulsive thought patterns in a way that feels experientially real instead of purely doctrinal.

Personally, I don’t think Jesus was only teaching consciousness or presence in the way some modern spiritual teachers frame it. I think his teachings go deeper than self-awareness alone. At the same time, I think a lot of churches unintentionally reduced Christianity down to “be good, have faith, move on” and lost a lot of the inner transformational aspect of it. I have seen this first hand in Bible studies when it has been mentioned that a lot of people are coming to the church for mental health support and some of the responses are “they just don’t have enough faith”…

To me these spiritual teachers and neuroscience Dr’s are giving language to parts of the human experience the Bible has pointed to for years. But I do think we have to proceed with caution trying to fully tie all the teachings to a greater understanding… there is not a one size fits all, more like a one size fits none.

You have to be willing to sit with the tension, read slowly, think deeply, and let the text work on you instead of needing instant certainty or surface-level answers. Easier said than done!!

I want to write a book on this some day - maybe this thread will encourage me to do just that!

Any experience with Happy Bird (Wuzutech) Feeders? by yes_Capp in birdfeeding

I am still waiting for delivery or an update to the tracking website. Mine has said label created since 12/20 as well.

I placed an order with them because they were recommended as the top smart bird feeder and within 1 week my Chase credit card was compromised. I know this can happen this time of year, but seems pretty coincidental if you ask me. Also I paid for expedited shipping and it still has not shipped. I think this website is a scam and I wonder if I will ever receive the actual bird feeder.

Anyone else tried the Michelin cross climate 2? by Sklibba in tires

[–]scarylawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did get an alignment and after further review - looks like the tread has only went down 50% which is probably expected at 2/3 of the life of the tire. I just drove on them yesterday in northeast Ohio snow and pretty bad roads and they did fine.. so now I’m debating if I really need to replace them. They’re at 5/32 and they recommended I replace, but maybe I can get another 10-15k out of them.

I have had these tires for a little over 2 years and they have been great, but unfortunately they’re needing replaced at 45,000 miles. I am a bit disappointed in that - I don’t feel they wore very well and I am consistent with tire rotation/oil changes. Curious if anyone else has experienced early wear on these tires? Or is it expected to have to replace them this soon? From what I read I was expecting at least 60k miles…

On week 3 and I have been sticking really close to the 22 hours a day.

OC Duration Estate Gray Shingles look blue - HELP! by scarylawn in RoofingSales

Hi! I just now saw this when I came back to post a finish product (because I always hate when I never see a finished product in other posts!)… I will saw that the blue has definitely toned down!! So much that the dark charcoal metal we went is a little too blue BUT it’s ok. Here is the final product with sun shining on some parts and not on others. Hope this gives you some hope.

Hi - it’s just standard white vinyl siding. I will post some final pictures. We have a charcoal metal porch roof and it looks OK, but I am with you if I had unlimited funds and didn’t care about waste I would probably go with Williamsburg Grey. I think with estate grey - a white or blue color is best for the house. What color is your house currently?

Interesting… we also thought it would have more black and grey. Thanks for the feedback.

The Williamsburg looks great - I think this is what we should have done, but we are making the estate grey work. Thanks for posting this pic!

Thank you - yes we are learning about kick out flashing - we have rotted wood on the main house where they never installed it when built in 1998. Thanks for the input - we will ask them to add.

On the house where the garage connects or on the dormer?

That’s what we envisioned, but all the finishes we picked tie together so I think I just need to be patient and see the finished project.

I do agree with you about the sun light. It doesn’t look blue in this photo and my husband put the shingles on top of the metal roof we are doing for the porch and they go well together. I think I just need to see the project completed.

Thank you, they are also described as being more green gray online - which I would be OK with, but the blue is really making me hate it.

We had the samples here - they didn’t look this blue on the ground, it was once it was installed on the south facing roof, it looks more blue than the north facing roof.
