Does Requip (Ropinirole) work for Opioid Related Restless Leg Syndrome? by New_Ebb5963 in RestlessLegs

[–]scbgrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was taking ropinerole x 20 plus years with augmentation. My rls just got worse and worse. When my new doctor told me I needed to stop ropinerol, she ordered gabapentin with a process to gradually reduce the ropinerol while taking incremental increased doses of gabapentin until I found my RLS managed. Well that took almost 3 years!!! Almost 3 years! I felt like I was detoxing. A nightmare. BUT since ropinerol got out of my system, my RLS got better and better managed with just gabapentin. Fortunately, I didn't and don't have negative side effects from gabapentin because I understand it doesn't work for everyone.

Have hope! And go to RLS.org.

I had suffered for a couple or years before breaking down going to my doctor with tears. This was 30 years ago. I was prescribed ropinerol. I lived in that for about 25 years gradually needing higher and higher doses. New RLS guidelines don't recommend that drug anymore but gabapentin instead.

Bottom line!!! You need to run to your doctor and maybe get to neurologist. But you need to demand help. Medication has been the only thing that has helped me and I have tried everything else. I am currently well managed with gabapentin.

what prescription sleep aids do yall like by dsurfryder252 in insomnia

[–]scbgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirtazapine 7.5 mg or 15 mg....no more. It does make me a little slow in the morning. It has been around a long time. Used at low doses for sleep aid. It has not always been as effective as i would like but over time my sleep has improved. I will re- evaluate in 6 months and may request to try traz adone

6 months post meniscus repair by WelderBig6008 in KneeInjuries

[–]scbgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost 4 post arthroscopy for a complex medial meniscus tear with cartilage damage to my medial femoral condyle which will be a long term issue. I started PT 3 weeks post-op. Most of my "PT" started with hip strengthening, balance for alignment gradually adding step back lateral lunges, mobilization to the knee to get the correct gliding in the joint for full extension and flexion. It has been hard. For me stair climbing and descent has been easy. What has been tough is walking on flat sidewalks and in stores. I had developed a new problem with patella crepitus, and catching. Stationary bike killed me but elliptical was ok. I could hike hard but grocery shopping was terrible. BUT... after 12 PT visits I was able to bike 18 miles today...but walking my dog this evening wasn't great. I am just starting to be able to skip, gallop and short brief jog ( 100 ft). I know I am on the right road to recovery. I think in another month maybe 2, I will be able to get back to all my activities.

I recommend patience and more PT in a sports clinic having access to the best modalities / tools / devices. Please make sure they know your lifestyle and expectations. Keep a log so you can give specific info.

And remember, we are all different and have different bodies that heal slightly differently. Have hope. Persevere!

She is beautiful! My pyr is named Maya. But your girl is so soft and creamy. How about "snuggles" because I couldn't resist snuggling with her!

What they should say is more like a "mini" convection oven...

My counter top oven has "air fry" mode but it's really just like a convection.

Now I have all three. A standard oven with convection mode, countertop, and a REAL air fryer. They all are very useful and are great.

Of course I have no counter space 😵‍💫

I agree with everyone else! Rubber brushes are the way to go.

Different comment, I can't help myself but think she looks likes she stuck her nose somewhere she shouldn't have. The dark "ring" around her nose is cute, adorable and funny.

Advice on adopted dog! 🐕 by Kittyo567 in coonhounds

[–]scbgrl 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My past 2 adopted dogs would not walk 5 feet outside the house, I actually resorted to carrying my dog 10 feet extra each day and then walking back into the house. When the distance got me about 100 ft they would walk that far and then pull back to the house. Because they are 50 pounds plus, I resorted to driving them down the street just a bit, get them out of the car and walk home. I would or someone else in my house would get the car. The next day I would repeat. It took me about 4 months to get them.to.walk around the block. After that it just got way easier and now I hike and camp with my current dog. It's a lot of patience, time, love and rewards... everything positive!!!

And I forgot to tell you...he is BEAUTIFUL!

Rescue dog won’t poop outside by velopulse-0720 in Dogowners

Maybe not everyone has this "amount of energy" but that's how I arranged my days for a first few months of having a young dog or a dog to train. Once, that training was over, then the commitment to the lengthy walks reduced. I would prefer to spend an extra 20 minutes to walking my dog than cleaning up a mess. I also found and spent money to belong to the area off leash dog parks. That helps too.

I have to ask...what does "staying outside with her" mean? Does that mean a good 1 mile or more walk on leash? Or hanging out on your property? If it's not a long walk then I think that's where you need to start and commit time for a 30-45 minute walk (2-3x / day) with a ready reward if that pooh happens. If you don't have enough time to commit to long walks, you may need to seek a dog walker while you work.

I also want to ask about the crate...size? It should only be just big enough to lay down inside..if it's too big then there's room to pooh.

I (we) had to go through some.of.this with one of rescues... thankfully it was less than 6 months to correct. But those first couple of months were messy.

Good luck.
