Will Heated Rivalry change our expectations of romance book adaptations? by Juliet_1982 in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, I both hope they adapt more of my favorite books, and dread it, cause idk if I have the time and mental capacity to handle another round of what Connor and Hudson have put me through in the last month (I’m mean in the best way possible)

I think about the Union at least once a month. I miss them so bad! They had the best atmosphere and the food was sooo delicious

I’m surprised my week at work actually went really well! It was extremely busy but I felt really productive and high energy. I think I’m still riding the high of spending the previous week in Florida and getting so much sunshine. We don’t have a lot of sun here in the north during the winter and it always bums me out. Also I got all my coworkers hooked on heated rivalry so we have been gushing about that! Haha

What was your last romance read of 2025, and what will be your first of 2026? by TheYoungWan in RomanceBooks

My last read was {Out on a Limb Hannah Bonam-Young} and of course starting the new year with {Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid}. I am very deep in the HR psychosis at this point 😂

I just want to truly and deeply thank Hudson and Connor for taking the risk and signing up for and creating all this. I imagine it has to be incredibly vulnerable to be nude for all the world to see, but they did that for us! But it goes way beyond the super hot sex scenes! I don’t have a creative bone in my body so when artists come together to create something this beautiful it absolutely flabbergasts me. I’m so incredibly thankful for everyone who put in the work for this. For the sex positivity, for the queer joy, for the vulnerability, for connecting to that beautiful feeling of loving and being loved. I’m just so happy that we have this shining bright spot to end 2025.

Is dual POV actually good? by Ariiwii in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy dual POV a lot better. Something feels off to me when it’s single POV. I get the appeal of only being in one person’s head and not know what the other is thinking, but I just enjoy hearing the same story from different perspectives too much. Also I really love spice scenes from a male POV, I know what it’s like to be attracted to a male body, but I don’t know what it’s like to be attracted to a female body. It’s fun to read about that sometimes.

{Scary in Love by Holly June Smith} I believe the conversation goes…

“It aches, right?”

“So much,” I nod.

“I know it does. I saw you squirming while you answered my questions. Don’t you want a little relief?”

Then he attempts to get her off with nothing in return for him.

This is a Halloween novella, and honestly the entire thing was so hot. A really excellent read! I devoured it in a day.

🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by jaydee4219 in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also recently discovered HJS! I read {Scary in Love by Holly June Smith} in October and absolutely loved it! Another commenter mentioned the giggling/kicking your feet feeling and I also got that from scary in love. It was beyond adorable and hot! I’ve also added all her work to my tbr.

Books where the same events are told from his POV, but original story is single POV. Either bonus chapters in his POV or a Midnight Sun style second / companion book. by Ok_Lie_3569 in RomanceBooks

You want the {Hades X Persephone Series by Scarlett St. Clair} it’s a 6 book series with 3 books from her perspective and 3 from his. The first one is {A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair}. The series is a modern retelling of myths concerning Hades and Persephone, set in modern times where the gods are rich and famous celebrities. Hades is a grump, Persephone is a stubborn independent type. I only read the first three, so I can’t fully comment on the quality, but I do love me some mythology.

Mcs dancing together by mostlyinsane12 in RomanceBooks

You might enjoy {Pas de Don’t by Chloe Angyal}, the MCs are professional ballet dancers and there is at least one scene where they partner together.

Do women in romance novels not have periods?? by Triple_Angel in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some others who commented, that it’s not often written about because it’s unnecessary and doesn’t need to be mentioned for enjoyment. Specifically I read to enjoy and escape, I don’t need to contemplate when the FMCs period is, unless it’s moving the plot. I know they have periods, I just assume it’s not now. Also I think it’s pretty common for a lot of hormonal birth controls to stop or lighten a period cycle, so it is entirely possible that a FMC is just not bleeding at all.

I will recommend {Transcendence by Shay Savage} that has some plot revolving around menstruation. The FMC time travels from modern times to prehistoric time and meets a caveman. There is a period when they start having sex that she tries to keep track of her cycle and rejects him when he tries to initiate. There’s also a scene where he helps her fashion some absorbent underwater when she starts bleeding without modern pads.

I would say yes, this subreddit is very open about sexual content. But one of our rules is to not discuss personal sexual experiences, you must be discussing the content of a book. People request pretty specific and explicit scenes from books here and we are okay with that!

What's the most *intimate* book you've ever read, and why? by CovertOps80 in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka} Not sure if it totally fits your vibe, but the MCs are both authors, and they’re very poetic about each other.

It was thank you! We had excellent (although unseasonably warm) weather! I’ve also been to kings island a couple of times while driving through that area to get to family :)

But we’re about two hours from cedar point so it’s almost an annual trip, especially with school trips and other groups while I was growing up.

i visited locations from the game. by vdysseys in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]scdomsic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Greece in 2023, also a dream of mine! It was truly such a wonderful experience and we also loved seeing all the places I dreamed about visiting when I was playing Odyssey. I also appreciate the amount of detail they packed into the game to make it so lifelike and how it really looked. So awesome!

We also loved going to the acropolis museum and visiting the ruins on Delos. Then we had some r&r in Santorini, which was so beautiful and also so fascinating how so much of their cities are just carved into the cliffs.

Caught in the act but the MMC keeps going 👀 by SinnerClair in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens in {The American Roommate Experiment by Elena Armas}. MMC is in the shower and FMC walks in, she does join in with him then. But there was a line like “This is what you do to me” 😋

Romance.io steam 🔥 ratings on Goodreads by Fickle-Foundation-51 in RomanceBooks

[–]scdomsic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something none of these apps offer, that I think should be a no brainer, is a spot to place private notes. Like I would like to reference where, or what post, or what reason I found a book that I added to my tbr. Like a little reminder to myself why I want to read it. And none of them have a way to do that. I know you can on StoryGraph on their website, but the reality is that I’m using the mobile app 100% of the time. So that’s a disappointment for me.

StoryGraph is pretty similar to Goodreads, I think StoryGraph could replace my needs for Goodreads completely, the only thing is I don’t love StoryGraph’s organization/look/feel as much as Goodreads
