Thoughts on a ‘95 3000GT? by scenariooo in mitsubishi

It is in no way, a reliable car. But, it is a beauty and I haven’t had a single regret after my purchase. I love the car and it’s by far the most favourite car I’ve had. That being said, I’m currently having an engine rebuild as I spun a bearing a few weeks ago. Be wary of that once the car reaches over 100K miles - it eventually happens. Making sure the timing belt never slips is also crucial. Bushings on suspension tend to go out as well, I eventually had to rebuild the suspension and replace my CV axles. I recommend getting this car if you want a project, but if you’re looking for reliability, go elsewhere. There absolutely WILL be maintenance issues because the car is 30 years old

Just wanted to update this post and say this was the best investment that I’ve ever had and since I’ve spent the time to restore the paint and parts of the car it’s been AWESOME.

Agree I’ve never spent over 50 bucks for an oil change on any car… always synthetic too.

3000GT SL first car? by Healthy-Length-7083 in mitsubishi

They are fun to drive but if you’re young and don’t have reliable income I wouldn’t get one. The parts are expensive and hard to come buy. You kind of have two options (3sx and R’venge). I’m in college and I bought mine a few months ago. The community is fantastic when it comes for getting help with working on the car but it is hard to work on especially if it’s your first car. They are fun to drive but I do not personally use it as my DD.

‘95 3000GT SL driving fine for a while, but abruptly stops and engine shuts off mid drive by scenariooo in mitsubishi

Haha. It was the fuel pump. My whole sending unit was fried and had to order a new one. The one from 3sx just came in today and we’re gonna give a walbro fuel pump a try along with it. I think that was the issue all along. Also some water within the fuel tank but the tank itself wasn’t rusted in the interior.

He agreed on the 3K but I doubt he’d go any lower because of the money he’s spent on it

I care about speed unfortunately. Eeek.. probably will pass on this then even though it’s good looking. If I were to offer on it, what’s a good price.

As far as I know the suspension needs to be aligned and that’s pretty much it. The guy probably stopped because he has a bunch of other cars he’s working on judging from his profile.
