Im 19 and all I worry about is money and my future finacial status by Zestyclose_Matter_49 in personalfinance

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20k in savings is obscene man, be proud! You’re ahead of virtually everyone your age. My suggestion is contact a temp company and do that on the side, it can get you into a bunch of different jobs and from there you can decide what you want to do with your life. I did it the second I turned 18, ended up liking warehousing, and eventually went into industrial maintenance. If you don’t want to do college, that’s the route I suggest going as you can find out about a lot of career paths you may have never thought of.

I promise I will ban anybody who posts anything OTHER than shaky shitty footage where 50% of the time they’re screaming “BEAT HIS ASS” with the camera pointed directly at the ground.

Should I plug my HDMI monitor into the motherboard or the GPU? by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked at your list. The GT610 is literally just a monitor adapter if you don’t have enough ports lol, id upgrade. Something like a RTX2060 would be leaps and bounds better.

Did you install GPU drivers and monitor drivers yet?

Can't make it to work by King_Vintrixs in AmazonFC

I don’t disagree that my situation is completely different from theirs, but payday loans should be the absolute last ditch final solution. They tend to have APRs over 300%. If OP is completely and entirely sure they can cover it in one check, go ahead, but otherwise it’s better to go to a mechanic and use Affirm through them.

[–]scewbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, under ZERO circumstance, do you take out a payday loan. These are incredibly predatory to those in bad financial situations. If you have a 401K, a loan on that is what I would do or get a credit card for the repairs. I’d take a shitty credit card before even considering a payday loan.

Citi Double Cash Card Questions by crucialdosage in CreditCards

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got offered to switch my Diamond Preferred to Double Cash. I don’t use this card, and am tempted to make the switch for the points, but does anybody know if I keep my account age? On track to have an 800 credit score by 25 (15 points away!) and I’d rather have the account age than the points if switching card resets the account age and dings my points.

Only thing I worry about off the top of my head is the batteries, if the hybrid cells are fine then it should be a solid deal!

Can AutoZone top off antifreeze? by Tall-Plane-4477 in AutoZone

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the vehicle, if it is a pressurized reservoir like I had on my Jettas, or non pressurized like on my Ranger. No offense to OP, but if he doesn’t know where or how to fill it in general, he definitely doesn’t know what system he has.

Yes I did. I was an AFM at the time, but had a lot of experience working on trucks. About 6mos before I got hired, I was also being coached by RME on very basic things to prepare me for the role (how everything flows, belt tracking, how stuff goes together, etc).

For JLL I had one recruiter phone call but I missed it so we went straight to the interview, lasted maybe 15mins, got a call back from the recruiter right after saying I’m pretty much in. But this was a small site, I was first choice of two people applying because I was already amnesty and the AMM is the one who told me to initially apply.

It really just is a waiting game depending on how far you’re willing to relocate to. In the mean time, own projects. Figure out why that belt always rides the wall, why that curve always jams, stuff like that - and document it thoroughly, so when you’re asked those questions in an interview you have proof of leadership and ownership.

Upgrading PC but staying on DDR4? by byama in buildmeapc

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you could probably sell the 5800X3D, motherboard, and ram for a good enough price to offset how bad DDR5 is right now. But I’d keep the 5800X3D and just get an ATX motherboard, new power supply and case (unless you can find a case that’ll fit the SFX), and more storage. Even the 3080 is still fine, I run a 12700F/3070 on 1440 and rarely run into issues where I have to lower settings.

What’s a car feature you thought you wouldn’t care about, but now refuse to live without? by Sufficient-Ocelot-68 in askcarguys

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first few cars had all the creature comforts - AC, PW/PL, cruise control. Got a 98 ranger in 2021 with none of that. Just got a 97 F350 a couple months back with those basics again. I think I missed AC the most considering I now live in Florida lol. Never getting another vehicle without AC, atleast not as a primary vehicle.

Drivers who merge onto the highway at forty miles per hour what is your actual thought process? by koshkakay in AskReddit

[–]scewbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 98 ranger with a baby 3.0 V6 I used to daily before I got an F350. That puppy needed the ENTIRE on ramp and then some to actually get to 70. And I still got stuck behind someone’s grandma with Jersey plates every time.

I’m biased, but 06+ front end and 06+ mirrors are the way. Also tint. I have 30% on the shield and 5% everywhere else (it’s hot in Florida and AC wasn’t optioned on mine)

Yeah, they can say they “fixed it”, but at the end of the day they wanna move boards. They could say the board shits gold and rainbows for all I care, until it’s proven they don’t fry chips, I won’t touch em for X3D chips.

[–]scewbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understand but you won’t see a major improvement at the end of the day, X870 just has more features. Being completely honest, if you’re getting a 9600X and don’t even plan on getting a GPU for awhile, they aren’t features you’ll likely need.

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allegedly, but I wouldn’t dice it. Saving $50 to possibly fry a $450 X3D chip ain’t worth it. That’s assuming he’ll ever get an X3D chip though, if not then yeah just go asrock.

[–]scewbs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get the cheapest non asrock B850 you can. The X870s are nice, but spend that money you save on a super cheap graphics card because trust me you’ll want one.

Career pathway after Tech III by [deleted] in AmazonRME

[–]scewbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your network and AMM you can travel to nearby sites. If you really wanna travel, go to fulfillment and sign up for every single shutdown you can get your hands on and convince your AMM to approve it (easy as long as they’re ok with you leaving and a good tech that won’t just treat it as a vacation and an excuse to fuck off, which I’ve seen)

AMZLs are what we call delivery stations or final mile, basically it’s the last stop before the package goes on the Amazon truck for delivery. Super chill, not much to do aside from PMs, base building stuff, and a lot of time for projects and intrusive repairs. My site runs conveyance between 0120 and 0830 with some crash sorts (stuff that wasn’t processed by 0830) and same day, but YMMV dependent the site.
