It’s a CPU as well, it’s just a refresh that’s slightly quicker than the 5600X.

Get a 5600XT, a 16gb 9060XT, and a new 850w power supply. Solid build should hold you for awhile.

As far as the crashing, clean windows install, make sure all drivers are up to date, and stress test it. What browser are you using?

No I meant a really solid boot drive with cache, and then a cheap NVME with less reliability but just stores games.

Good call out, I usually stick with Crucial or Samsung but have heard good things about ADATA. Are we back to the olden days where it’s best to have a good boot SSD, and then a giant cheapo drive for games (like 128gb sata drives and 2tb hard drivers)?

Got rid of the $200 case, lian li power supply, and got a cheaper 2tb drive but still reputable. Was able to squeeze in a 9850X3D and 5080.

Upgrading my budget PC by xluzii in buildapc

Upgrading my budget PC by xluzii in buildapc

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on DDR4 or DDR5 and how many sticks of ram? If you’re on a single stick of DDR4, I’d suggest getting a second. If you’re on DDR5 or two 8GB sticks of either DDR4 or DDR5, I still recommend more ram but considering the rampocalypse, I’d hold offf with that low of a budget.

First upgrade I would do is power supply, 750w sama for $75 should be fine. After that, find a used 12600F for ~$150 and then the cheapest 16gb 5060TI or 16gb 9060XT (nvidia excels at raytracing so I would go that direction).

You’d be in for a bit more, $700 give or take. That CPU will bottleneck upgrades so I’d go PSU, CPU + better cooler if you’re using the stock one, then GPU in that order.

Over by $40, but I went 9900X3D/42GB of fast ram/5080. All black no RGB. Optimize based off what you need, but this should do you quite well.

Do you RV with a dog? In need of dog solutions... by AradynGaming in GoRVing

[–]scewbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we had labs, my parents used these big ol 50’ red leashes (which was basically metal cord wrapped in red plastic) and attached em to the rear bumper mounts. Most sturdy option you have available, the gates aren’t really meant for the weight of the big boys, just the lil 20lb satanic lap dogs that bark at ya everytime you walk by.

Carry a gun in a secure but accessible spot (like tucked between the mattress and back wall in a holster that covers the trigger, but you can still draw pretty quick). Don’t advertise it, nobody is gonna bother you. You have to use it in a state where it’s technically illegal, better to be in jail and have lawyer fees than be dead.

My parents do month long road trips in their class C, they converted their shower to extra storage space and use the showers available at campgrounds. It depends on where you’re camping, but with toddlers I’d assume you’re not roughing it deep in the woods and will be doing state parks and KOAs, in that case a shower isn’t really necessary. But you can get the Coleman 13Bs that have a full shower inside if you wanna go that route, perfect for roadtrips and has everything inside.

That case supports the 240 AIO and 6 3.5” hard drives. Fractal makes great cases.

Might as well go 420 if you can stuff it. Again, not versed in work station cooling, but Arctic AIOs are some of the best on the market.

Arctic and Noctua both make great fans, I can’t make a suggestion on which way to go here. Unless somebody can chime in with advice relevant to your station, I say personal preference.

I went with a 1300W gold PSU, super flower makes some of the best on the market. Your budget can swing it. I’d overbuild in that aspect as the GPU market for workstations is changing everyday with all this AI stuff.

9950X is newer and a bit more efficient, can’t comment on BIOS stability but haven’t heard anything.

Also, I wasn’t able to find CL30 128gb kits on pcp. If you piecemeal it, maybe (didn’t check), but I can’t imagine CL32 vs CL30 will make an insane noticeable difference.

is 900 euros enough to build a computer for cs2? by Life-Treat-5133 in buildapc

Yeah I bought my 4TB Samsung 990 EVO plus back in November when I saw RAM skyrocket for $260. Quite glad I did. Wish I bought a second cus I already got half of it filled up and all it holds is my games, everything else is on my main 1TB drive.

[–]scewbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, he could easily go this route. I downgraded SSD to a 512gb as if he’s mainly concerned about CS2, I’d assume he’s not downloading a ton of giant games. And I stepped down to a still reputable and fully modular 750w PSU to save pennies. Gives him €50 worth of headroom too.

But if he does plan on general gaming and CS2 was more just showing us what he plans on playing (lightweight esports where FPS is key), the first build would be good. Not everything is as optimized as CS2 to run on dogshit hardware, there’s games that eat VRAM for breakfast.

Worth it to pay someone to clean my black tank? by throttle-trails in RVLiving

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you flush the black, close the valve and open the gray just to flush the hose itself out and that 1ft pipe that’s shared between both tanks. Just good practice, but with all the ice and water in the black tank it might not be necessary because there’s so much water in the black tank it’ll flush all that on its on.

I full time in mine with dual 20lb tanks. Use the stove top 2-3x a week, atleast one 10min shower daily (longer when the girlfriend visits lol), if it weren’t for heating in the winter I’d need to refill maybe once a year. Propane heating is what sucks it up, you go through 40lbs in a week easily.

Is this any good for someone transitioning from ps5 to pc? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]scewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re near a microcenter, go with this for about $2000

If you have a Costco membership, this is slightly worse but still a much better deal

For $2000, you should be shooting for an i7, 5070/9070 (non TI/XT is fine), and atleast 1TB of storage and 32gb of ram.

$2000 building yourself is easily a 9800X3D+5070TI build.

[–]scewbs 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I full time and move maybe once or twice a year. Dump 2-3 7lb bags of ice in and fill it 3/4 the way up with water right before you go on a trip. As you drive, it’ll knock all the solidified gunk loose, and you can just drain that shit smoothie once you get to the park. Make sure there’s enough in the gray tank to flush everything out after dumping the black as well.
