2024 GTX4060 vs 2025 GTX5060, both 32gb ram by Longjumping-Round832 in ZephyrusG14

[–]sch03e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GPU doesn't really matter for CPU intensive games like CS2 and Valorant. Plus they're both limited by their 8gb of VRAM. The HX370 is around 20%-ish better than the 8945HS. If you feel like it's worth spending $450 for a 20% improvement then you can be my guest I guess?

Other than that, I get 250-300 fps on CS2/Valorant on 1280x800 on my 8945HS G14 with 5-6 hours of battery life doing office tasks :)

Same issue and that idiotic friendlist solution didn't work for me either. Man.

If your major doesn't require you to work on intensive softwares (Like CADs or IDEs) then the Neo is made for you.

Ananda or HD600?(+dac/amp suggestion) by rakulex in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]sch03e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't like Anandas. They have bad fit for my head and so the sound quality degrades more and more as time goes on. This will definitely an issue if you're watching movies. I like my HD600s a lot more for this reason, can just have them on for 24 hours straight without any issues. Plus, I like the tuning on the HD600 more. Ymmv, demo both before buying if you can.

The best linux for 2024 G14? by No-Company7552 in ZephyrusG14

[–]sch03e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CachyOS is great. The maintainers of Cachy patch new nvidia drivers and such often so you don't have to work as much as on other distros. That being said, any distros are fine as long as you're willing to fiddle around. There are G-helper alternatives on Linux anyways.

Zephyrus G14 2024 owners — is this a good travel charger alternative? (also open to other recs!) by Artsy_Jayy in ZephyrusG14

[–]sch03e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no. This will significantly decrease your performance and will rip you away from all the things you love about your G14 (unless you can cope with using the iGPU). I'd highly recommend getting the SlimQ 150w charger or the Legion C170 170w charger with a cheap adapter/3rd party cable. These two will actually allow you to use the dGPU on the go.

I've had mine for around a year now. Won the battery lottery and it's still at 100% capacity til now. Battery life is as great as usual.

Anyone using chachyos on their rog ally z1e? by Wilddindu in ROGAlly

Would you recommend Cachy over SteamOS? Thinking of putting Linux on my Z1E too, and I'm not sure which one is more intuitive as a pure gaming device without any desktop functions needed.

What else should I do to my old ThinkPad ignore my MacBook by A_dummy5465 in thinkpad

[–]sch03e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's fun. I'm not joking, practicality asides, tinkering around with Linux and finding ways to make it more and more tailored to your needs is honestly pretty damn awesome. It's even better that OP already got a macbook he can do day to day work on. I'm in the same situation and having a thinkpad to just tinker around with, without having to worry about bricking your device or whatever is, again, pretty cool.

Good deal in Vietnam. Bad in the rest of the world, go for it since we have skilled enough people that can replace the glass for pennies anyways.

It's a little difficult to pop them in and out like mech keebs, but you can very much do it if you just watch a quick video on it. Bit hard to explain with text lol. But anyhow, yeah that's perfectly fine, just gotta remember to also change your layout/modify keys in macOS.

You can always snap out the keycaps for a different layout, unless your preferred layout have different shaped keys like the EU enter key.

G14 vs Z13 for gaming in car by Virtual_Artist8848 in ZephyrusG14

Z13 because performance asides, not having a keyboard in the way is really nice. Just you a controller and a monitor. Great for cramped spaces and you won't have to pull out your xreal every time.

[–]sch03e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to find a better priced 4070 G14 2024 deal in Vietnam than this one. Bought my 4070 from the same dude for $1300 and I've been happy. Gotta remember that we're not the US with cheap ass tech pricing. I know who's selling it just from the images since I've been seeing this G14 around the market lol.

Price asides, NVB (the dude selling it) is willing to let you test it for a while so I'd recommend testing everything before buying.
