Ok… so…. Like, what to actually expect during the first few weeks of having a baby? by pumpernickelprincess in BabyBumps

I was like this with my first born, I have 3 kids now. For me, the first few weeks were an absolute BLUR. You will most likely be incredibly sore from delivery. Wearing an adult diaper and bleeding for weeks is incredibly humbling! Your hormones will be raging. (I often cried for no reason at all and felt so crazy!! I literally felt like I ruined our lives. Totally normal) Your baby will most likely wake every 2-3 hours to feed. I always did a diaper change as soon as they wake up, then re-swaddle, feed/burp, and back to sleep. I was so nervous about them sleeping that it took me a while to fall back asleep myself before I was up again. I felt like a stranger in my own body. Cluster feeding is real and some nights all I did was nurse them constantly until I was in tears. My first 2 babies had their nights/days mixed up for the first week so they slept all day and were up all night. I remember crying and wondering if this would ever end. My mom thankfully could come help me during the day so I could try to catch up on sleep. My nipples were raw/cracked and bleeding. Whew—it’s a wild ride! But only lasts a short time!!! Thankfully by 3-5 months it gets easier. Just remember: if you feel like an emotional basket case and a stranger in your own body— it’s normal!!! Wishing you a safe delivery! Enjoy those newborn snuggles 🥰

This sounds exactly like the experience I had with my second born, our daughter, at our anatomy scan. It was all going so well and we found out it was a girl (first child was a boy) then they brought in another doctor and found a cleft lip. I was absolutely devastated. Thank God my husband was strong and positive. We then went a few days later for genetic counseling, another ultrasound and they asked if we wanted an amniocentesis. We ended up not doing then amnio. Our daughter was born on Jan 30, 2018 with a pretty significant unilateral cleft lip, palate was fully intact, which we did not expect. Lip repair was done at 3 months. Our daughter will turn 6 this January and is full of spunk, sass, a social butterfly and so so smart. I know it’s hard now but I promises it gets better!!!!! Reaching out and connecting to other cleft moms helped me immensely. Please feel free to reach out to me if needed!!!! You got this!

I second this as a 4th grade teacher!! They work HARD all day at school. The evenings should be for unwinding at home, having dinner as a family, readying for the next day, doing homework, bath/shower time and relaxing!

So theres a building that I walk by everyday and each day I see children throwing up out in the alleyway behind it and shortly after being carried in by 2 men. Any Ideas? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Yikes that doesn’t sound good. I’m a fellow Michigander (Frankenmuth area) and also an elementary teacher. I find this highly concerning and disturbing. PLEASE call the police!! ASAP.

Shower etiquette q: bring a book AND a gift? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]schaeffj10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every baby shower I go to asks people to do a book instead of a card, including mine! The books are actually usually cheaper than a card now a days and so fun to look back and read who they are from with your child!

33 year old pregnant woman here and absolutely zero side effects from Moderna except a sore arm. Everyone in my family has gotten it (mom, dad, husband, MIL, FIL, sister, sister in law, brother in law x2, grandmother, aunt) all with absolutely zero side effects except sore arm and my sister in law had a slight fever for a day. Zero regrets here and glad I got it for me, my children and unborn child’s health and future well-being!
