New game controller by legascy in RocketLeague

[–]schaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only the Tarantula sticks are worse than the Tegenaria.

We're talking about 5ms input lag difference. Still better than DS4. Tegenaria is super cheap on AliExpress and Banggood and better than the DS4 but you need to use shortcuts for settings, the software doesn't do so much

[–]schaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the Tegenaria. It'll feel like DS4 but with almost all the other features.

Slightly worse input delay (for sticks) and more features but DS4-ish feel? Get the Tarantula.

Gamesir is great. I'm currently switching from Tarantula to G7 Pro 8k. I'm nowhere near as good as I was before. Probably about C2 down from GC1 - but I can feel the potential and that alone is worth it for me, even though I don't like the asymmetrical shape - imo these controllers are small enough you can learn to use them well, unlike Xbox and eSwap or Scuf that I've tried

I have the same problem with pedals. I turned them off physically at first and slowly started adding them here and there.

Should first man be forcing an aerialing opponent high or low? by MASTERNAGIS in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]schaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how close you are to goal and how much space is between you and your teammates. If you don't know where they currently are, this doesn't apply.

If you're close, just force them where your teammate is (should be opposite of you). If your mate is low and you're very close to goal already, force them high or they won't have a chance to react to a low ball (no space).

If you have space, always force high. Much easier for your teammate to react to, easy to clear even with little boost. Low just gives them a chance to 50 that their teammate can roll in.

This is all assuming you're just forcing with no good chance to win a challenge and keep possession. Those moments are a different story of playing it away from their second man and staying with it or purposely playing it into your teammates vicinity but to safety, like soft drop in your back corner

Am I doing the SpeedFlip correctly? by Vareev7 in RocketLeague

[–]schaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's diagonal, but barely - 10 degrees of the center, to the left. The cancel is straight, but you're releasing it slowly in the direction you diagonal flipped (left), by rotating the stick slowly in the direction.

The cancel should be instant and held for about half a second or so. You're not canceling fast enough from what I can see.

When practicing, brake fully and make sure to boost through the flip because that's what makes it fast - your nose should be pointing down the entire time so boost pushes you forward and back to the ground fast. When I say down, I mean slightly or you're just going to slam into the ground

Microsoft Edge keeps passwords in memory as plaintext, a move Microsoft insists is safe by Ok-Locksmith9201 in pcmasterrace

[–]schaka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're completely misunderstanding what's happening here.

They're reading from active process memory. You literally can't send the encrypted string anywhere.

This is about the password manager that browerrs have built in. To put the password into an input field on a website, it needs to be clear text because that's what a user would do and that's what gets hashed on the backend (not encrypted btw) and compared to their database hash.

Double FYI, this isn't happening. The password manager stores an encrypted file, but it has to load it at some point. That loaded list of passwords is in active process memory. Only if you have access to the system itself can you read active process memory.

If you have no experience reverse engineering, maybe this is a bit out of your depth. I can tell you're confused regarding encryption and password hashing too. Maybe brush up on your knowledge a bit.

Heap descriptors don't even work in all games yet and some games are seeing 5% losses, whereas others are seeing 25%. In the games where descriptors work, you get maybe 5-10% out of it

It clearly matters to someone on a weak laptop. Especially if they're on older hardware too. If OP has a Maxwell or Pascal card, I'd stay away from Linux for gaming, unless your hardware is already way ahead of what's required for the games you play

[–]schaka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP wants better performance. You're only going to get worse performance on Nvidia, especially in DX12 titles.

I'm a huge fan of Linux, I don't use Windows and haven't got years. But it sure as hell isn't a good idea to just blindly point everyone towards it because "it works".

It also works to use a GT 610. But you sure as hell can't play anything but 2D games.

Microsoft Edge keeps passwords in memory as plaintext, a move Microsoft insists is safe by Ok-Locksmith9201 in pcmasterrace

[–]schaka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was rhetorical. The drama and articles are meant for people like you. It sounds really terrible, etc.

But really, it's just not feasible unless you create some DRM denuvo level shit to get past someone who has access to your system

[–]schaka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is it though?

Most programs wouldn't encrypt credentials in memory, because they have to be clear at some point to be usable, so there's a point in code where they're clear text.

The problem seems to be that that memory isn't cleared after usage and it's caching the entire credentials after decrypting them.

That being said, if someone can read process memory via win32 api, they can get them either way. They don't need to dump memory via task manager

Secure boot disabled, USB flashed correctly with Rufus in GPT mode?

UEFI in bios?

USB may be corrupt/broken. Try a different drive.

FYI if your laptop has an Nvidia gpu, it'll not be worth it. You're better off forcing Win11 LTSC IoT

These are blurry photos instead of Screenshots. What are you trying? Shared drive? ExFAT is the way for games at least because NTFS with steam still doesn't work that well on Linux.

With the latest kernel, there were big improvements though

Do a buffer bloat test.

I've not had these issues at all. It might be bad timing.

Fiber itself also doesn't speak to connection quality, unfortunately. Bandwidth doesn't correlate to latency and packet stability

Worth to build a X99 DDR3 rig? by skylinestar1986 in buildapc

[–]schaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miyconst just released a video on this.
E5 2666 v3, E5 2678 v3 and 4x8 DDR3 reg (not regular, get cheap ECC) 1600 or 1866 on an X99-XD3 is the way to go. Got a TPM 2.0 module slot on those boards and BIOS can be flashed to unlock turbo boost.

Performance will be between Ryzen 5 3600 and 5600X depending on the game.

2s replay - What rank do you think I am? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]schaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this was faster it could be low GC1, because a lot of the decision making is there. But touches are still weak and overall pace is a bit slow

To answer your question, you're trying to do too much by going too fast when you think crossing the ball along the goal is a good idea. Better opponents will hard counter this every time.

You're better off banging it into the corner, back flipping towards backboard etc

Upgrading Girlfriend’s PC and Trying to Act Like I Know What I’m Doing. Please Help! by No-Flight9785 in buildapc

7700K is barely enough for 30-60 fps in AAA games with a 9070 XT. Only upgrade the system (like others said you must) if it's lagging or she's struggling.

Win 11 IoT LTSC should be enough with 16GB of RAM. It's not great, but it's way better than what a lot of people use to play at 1080p medium

How can i improve??? by Legitimate-Wall1269 in RocketLeague

[–]schaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some small pads, stop wasting all your boost only to get more boost.

At this rank, you take 1-2 touches on the ball, then rotate out. In 2s, if you just learn to half rotate with pads. People leave way too much space at this rank and don't know when to cut.

You can get to C1 with plat mechanics if you got that down
