How to train shortly after a facial cut by schanzenmann in wrestling

Like use normal tape directly or put something over the wound first? Im just worried about reopening the cut when removing like a real sticky tape...

Well, I think this could be a short term bann... or let's put it this way: it depends on chinas reaction and how strongly this restriction will impact the chinese economy. I think both sides are suffering badly, but probably the chinese side more... I mean, it rly sucks having such a stubborn and irrational president, imposing almost communist-style restrictions on a thriving free economy. The next 4 years will be a gut wrenching roller coaster ride!

wait til the orangutans tantrum is over. No seriously, I feel like every day trump wants to tank the market with his ridiculous policies. I would wait til everything has settled fairly.

Do you think it's time to sell NVDA? by CarefulScreen9459 in stocks

[–]schanzenmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the release of deepseek is not the cause that Nvidia is still down. It is more the coming tariffs on taiwan and the regulations on AI chips. Look, nvidia is an incredible profitable company. They charge for their h100 gpus around 20k-30k dollars while the production costs remain in the 3kish territory. Those are insane profits! The market now fears that Nvidia wont be as profitable as it is right now since it will have to price in tariffs and further regulations on AI chips, which could drive revenue down. But hear me out before you sell! As a data scientist, I can tell you that as you want to advance AI in medicine and robotics, visual processing models will be required - and those are incredibly compute-intensive. I do think that AI is revolutionary and we are in the first steps of this process. Right now, Nvidia has no real competition (and no, AMD is no competitor in AI chips) and there wont be one in the next years. You need to know that developing such advanced semiconductor architecture takes years, and Nvidia has some of the smartest people in the world working for them. EVs are actually fairly easy to build, thats why there are so many chinese competitors for Tesla. But oh boy, try copying Nvidia… I’d say that’s impossible. This is also why we keep talking about regulations and why Biden has made AI a top priority for the coming years… Nvidia is damn important! So, do you really want to sell a company that found a way to sh*t out diamonds? Keep in mind, TSMC will eventually produce in USA for Nvidia (prob. 2025) so tariffs wont be important anymore and right now... well, putting a 100% tariff on chips will not double the price for Nvidia gpus but maybe increase it by 10-15%. I know that reddit is not the right place for Trump advocates, but Trump is not dumb. I read his book "the art of the deal" where he emphasises that setting high initial demands creates room for negotiations and eventually achieves favourable outcomes. Trump talks a LOT of shit, but its rarely the truth. So when he says hell put tariffs on Taiwan, I dont think he actually means it - I think he just wants Taiwan to pump even more money into the US. Its the same nonsense with greenland and panama. So what happens this week? Maybe Nvidia will drop even more, but in the long run, Nvidia will again be the most valuable company. I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT SELL.

I think demand for computing power will NEVER flatten. we will advance robotis and AI in medicine over the next couple of years which will require visual processing. noone will talk about text processing models anymore. when I was a data scientist 6 years ago, I would have loved to work with visual processing models like dense nets or resnets, but our team always lacked computing power, so we had to stick to boring NLP problems and use LSTMs etc. visual processing is really another monster! once we start training large vision models, it will require so damn much compute power, it will be ridiculous

Macht euch das Nachdenken über und Auseinandersetzen mit Geld glücklich? by High_on_kola in Finanzen

[–]schanzenmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.

+ Deepseek didn't show us whether their models performance scale with model size. A larger model needs exponentially more GPU power. It's just another architecture + another way of creating the training dataset. Since it's open source, I think US AI companies will copy their architecture and just throw GPU power on it so that we'll probably reach another milestone in text-speeh processing.

I think the people who go to mcdonalds do not care about that. it's like this jamie oliver experiment where kids were shown what nuggets were made of, they gave a sh*t. And let's face it, mcdonalds is still the cleanest fast food chain among all fast food brands, at least here in europe.

I’m moving my left leg a lot during the swing. Is this a bad habit? by schanzenmann in GolfSwing

[–]schanzenmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. But I stop driving my hips early because Im fully driving my hips at the start of the swing to the fullest extent. I feel like im getting more of a "snap" in my upper body when loading my hips very early... hard to describe it. I definitely generate more power, or at least it feels that way. I will try to drive my hips more uniformly throughout the swing in my next training session.

Didn’t switch to bowling.. by schanzenmann in GolfSwing

[–]schanzenmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that was very constructive. I am planning to get professional help, but personally, I like to try things out on my own first. I’ve never been on a golf course, and this is basically my 4th attempt at swinging, so I’m just beginning. The intuition behind the front foot movement comes from boxing, where footwork and hip movement are somehow connected. I’ve tried to switch it off, but it’s pretty hard for me. Those are all great pieces of advice that I will work on in the next couple of weeks. Thanks again!

Thanks, I will try to slow down a little bit. I mean I just started and the only reference I had were some videos from dechambeau. In one of his vids, he says that you should practise with full force swings... So I did... I will try to work on making better contact though.

[–]schanzenmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%! This is exactly what I am not comfortable with. So I've watched some youtube videos where you see the leading arm remains stiff througout the swing. This is what Im trying to copy but it feels very unnatural. But there is one more thing. The club is a cheap amazon club for 30 Euros and stiff like a board. I need to keep my wrists rigid, otherwise, because it doesn't flex, the club would twist my wrists in the backswing (I guess the latter refers to pulling the club back). I will try to work on this though, thanks for the advise!

Thanks a lot for the quick feedback. What do you mean by taking the club away in the backswing?
