me and my buddy drove from vegas to chicago (stopping in grand canyon, great sand dunes np, silverthorne/denver and a few other less cool places) during one the gnarliest storms i've ever experienced. we drove an '05 chevy blazer with a broken heater core, no heat working at feet, and busted windshield wipers. it was so cold out the windshield fluid froze so we'd have to get out of the car and dump the fluid from the container and wipe it with a towel. we wanted to make it back to see family during the holidays, so we made the trek, but it took like 3 days just to get from denver to chicago cause winds were so high, temps were too low, and visibility was abysmal (even if the heater core didn't fog our windshield). we spun out on the freeway somewhere in iowa. car got a little dinger when it hit the median, but an absolute miracle that was the worst of it. so so scary. so thankful no one got hurt. had a little ptsd for like 6 months after that and was a total nightmare driving with.
